Poured from a 750ml bottle into a Trillium pint glass. Bottled 12/9/13.

Pours a hazy golden with a quarter-inch eggshell-white head. Head fades almost instantly and leaves no lacing to speak of, but holding the glass to light reveals a steady stream of carbonation rising to the surface.

In the nose, light lactic funk mingles beguilingly with notes of crabapple, slightly unripe pluot, and lemony wheat. Very pleasant.

Taste largely follows the nose--the dominant note is of tart, unripe pluot, while lighter notes of lactic, yogurty sour funk, lemon juice, and wheat bread all support. Towards the back of the palate a subtle note of sweet almond milk appears to balance the citric, fruity tartness, while notes of crabapple and a very subtle, almost ginger-like spiciness appear in the finish.

Mouthfeel is crisp, light-bodied, and effervescent. Carbonation is high, giving this beer a very champagne-like feel to it.

On the whole, a very tasty, highly refreshing sour from the crew in Everett. Tart, crisp, and palate-pleasing--wish I'd picked up more than one bottle of this.

This beer is not a berliner weisse. Just because it is a sour wheat beer doesn't make it a berliner.

A - murky orange, not much head.

S - lactic, fruity.

T - tastes like a mimosa, except with the orange juice subbed out for pluot juice, I guess. this may sound like a good thing to some of you, and you might like it - I found it quite underwhelming.

M - unbalanced. carbed nicely.

Poured from a Corked and Caged bottle into a champagne flute. Bottled on 12/09/13.

Appearance: Pale, hazy gold, fading to peach toward the bottom of the glass. A champagne-style white head that disappears relatively quickly and doesn't leave behind any significant lacing.

Smell: Wow. This is fantastic in so many ways. Lactic sourness, but overpowered by the sweet almond notes of the pluot. There is a creamy scent to it as well, and oddly enough a hint of mint coming through as well. I have literally no complaints about the smell, this is absolutely perfect.

Taste: Like it smells, amazing. Lactic sour comes through, and a bit of a creamy, bready malt on the finish. The almond I smelled helps cut through the sourness, and plays nicely with the malts. The pluots contribute a wonderful fruitiness, and I still get a bit of that mint.

Mouthfeel: Highly carbonated, very prickly on the tongue. Exactly what I'd expect from a Berliner. Champagne-like, for sure.

Overall: Pretty sure I can safely declare this the best Berliner Weisse I've had to date. I love everything about this beer. No complaints, except that I only got four bottles of it.

Hazy straw color with a nice white head. You get a little bit of tartness and some hints of fruit juice on the nose. This beer would be perfect for warm weather. The tartness is just sharp on the very front end, but highlights the beer from then on in. Tartness is somewhere between a berliner and a gose. Just the right amount. The fruitiness and juiciness of the pluot is excellent. It's much juicier than Quetsche Tilquin with plums. The wheat body gives enough brightness and body to really make this enjoyable. Home run for me.
