This APA is a must have to knock off "the list." There isn't a human beer- drinking- being on the planet who's eyes won't light up after pounding a 12- oz of this under 5% magic in a can. Have had it on tap, out of a growler, and a can... and get a consistent experience every time. Find it, buy it, and drink it... you'll be glad you did.

2014 can into Lawson's snifter 8/26/2014.

A- Beautiful banana pear yellow body, one finger foamy white head, good retention time. Very nice shade of yellow. [4.25]

S- Citrus, oranges, peaches, nectarines. Slight amount of bread pale malt, a bit of grassy hops, but for the most part it smacks of tropical fruit. [4]

F- Grassy hop flavors, tangy orange pulp, nectarine skin. Overall, the fruit flavours aren't as vibrant on the palate as it is in the nose. [3.75]

M- Thinner bodied but not in a bad way. Easy to drink, not bitter at all, but does feel a bit bland on the finish, presumably from the less malt for the 4.3% ABV. [3.75]

O- Lighter bodied with a lot of fruity hops in the aroma, but a bit light on the flavour, even for a session pale ale. [3.75]

Cheers to Goblinmunkey for hooking me up with some cans

Consumed 10/9/14

A: Lightly hazy honey gold with some tangerine hues - pours with a medium-sized, white head, fades to a wispy cap, leaves a few nice streaks of lacing

S: Decidedly light and mild - some nice citrus aromas - floral tangerine and some grapefruit - very peachy, although I would describe it more as an under-ripe, slightly tart peach or nectarine - some melon, cantaloupe, and other light hints of tropical flavors - light, bready malts, light crackers

T: Like peach slices on crackers, except much less weird and much more refreshing - light citrus, floral grapefruit and ripe tangerine flesh - prominent peach flavor - again, lightly under-ripe, almost tart - nice array of light, but interesting, tropical fruit flavors in the back including melon, mango, maybe some pineapple - very light malts, with some white bread and light crackers - some hints of yeast and mild bitterness, finishes very dry with minimal sweetness

M: Light body, nicely carbonated, smooth, extremely drinkable

O: You can actually drink this fast enough to create a whirlpool in your mouth

Night Shift has been increasing in prominence on my radar due to their consistently interesting sour and funky creations. But this is very different; it's a super-drinkable pale ale. Nailed it.

Yay craft cans! Canned 8/19/14.

Pours a pasty white fizzy 1 finger head that fades at a med pace, mild soapy lacing, super hazy straw pear juice lemony yellow like color.

Nose lots of fresh fruits, fresh hops out front, grassy and floral with plenty of fruits, lots of citrus, tangerine and orange, with a little rind, musty dank resinous notes, with a little passion fruit, and plenty of grapefruit pith, mild juicy peach and tangerine juice. Mild sweet malt base barely detectable underneath.

Taste brings more juicy fruits, but a little more tame, big grapefruit juice out front, and a mild pith, some melon rind, orange peel bitterness but not super bitter either. Then into more citrus, a little tangerine and juicy peach again, with a bit of tropical fruit note, generic tropical fruit mixed with juicy stone like fruit and citrus. It also has a mild dank musty note, but not much, little jack fruit even. Hops are mildly bitter and a touch of grassy floral hop note too. Mild grainy malt base, a touch toasty and creamy, mild grainy doughy note too. Finish is like seltzer a bit, grapefruit pith and mild citrus rind lingering, no sweetness and that dry bitter rind, with popping carbonation really gives that seltzer aftertaste.

Mouth is med to a bit lighter bod, nice fluffy carb that gets bright and tingly, little abrasive like feel like it has little fruit particles in it.

Overall interesting, nice fresh fruits, great hop presence and other fruits possibly added, it seems like they added orange rind and grapefruit pith to it and they're still there with the feel of abrasive pulp in it even. Mild malts that remind you they are there then disappear forever. Pretty enjoyable.

Appearance: Hazyish dark straw gold. head is bright-white and creamy. Starts off with a solid head, but drops to a small wispy cap and slightly thicker creamy collar in short order. Some splotches and streaks of lacing. Moderate carbonation on the pour.

Smell: Really soft malt base with a touch of powdery American yeast and a mildly sweet pale malt base. A bit of snappy cracker and some mildly bready elements, but it's all very mild. Hops hit big to juicy tropical fruit with a ton of peach, some mango, and a bit of melon and tangerine. Big dry-hop presence. Some minor pithy elements add a small backing bitterness but it's quickly covered over by the super juicy fruit aromas. Just delightful.

Taste: Peach. Lots of peach...or as much as you can have in a relatively mellow beer. Some more pronounced backing bitterness that comes across as pithy. Mellow malt backbone throws some mild bread crust and a bit more cracker. Mild pale malt sweetness adds a nice balance to the hops, but it's still a hop-forward beer. Lingering pine needle bitterness with a big juicy hop element that drops away quickly. A bit of grapefruit and tangerine as well. It's tropical without pushing the sugary sweetness that can accompany juicy tropical hops.

Mouthfeel: Mediumish body with a moderate carbonation. Clean and a touch crisp on the finish.

Overall: I can't get Daisy Cutter, so this will do nicely.

If this actually hits cans (that's the plan last I heard), I'll keep it in my fridge for everyday drinking. A mellow, hoppy pale ale from NE? Yes, it exists and this is it.

12oz can poured into a matching nightshift long stemmed glass. Thank you Kevin for the chance to try this. It appears a hazy pale yellow color with a white soapy topping.

The nose is muted initially but has some pleasant citrus overtop grass and catty quality. The taste is juicy with hops. Some tropics tasting of pineapple and peach/apricot overtop the usual suspects of grass and herbs.

This is light bodied, moderately carbonated and absolutely crushable. Donno why but this can hit me in all the feel good spots a pale ale should. Id kill for a case of this to pound while its hot out.

Grabbed a 4-pack of cans after going back for 2nds of the Morph IPA (which they were all out of after 2 days!) So i decided to give this one a shot.

Look: Crisp, white 2-finger head that dissipates rather quickly. Super hazy, one of the haziest Ive seen even compared to a witbier. The color is an opaque almost pineapple juice shade. very interesting!

Smell: Fruity with strong mango, peach and grapefruit notes right from the start. It smells delicious!

Taste: I get a little bit of the mango coming through with a nice hop bite. very well balanced and extremely drinkable. finishes a bit of an grapefruit/orange character to it.

Feel: very crisp and wet, with good carbonation.

Overall: I was extremely pleased with my 2nd offering from Night Shift. Definitely very session-able, the mango/peach up front with the grapefruit orange finish blends very well and is complex enough to keep every sip interesting. I just wish we had gotten more of them! Definitely one of (if not) the best APA's i've had the pleasure of trying.

I am a buyer in the liquor industry. I do not know how I have gone until today not knowing about this beer.
Drank from can, and hit with overwhelming peach, grapefruit, and tangerine flavors.

The 4.3 ABV lends to the drinkability, without tasting watered down.

I poured about 1/4 into a small tasting glass--Almost dayglo yellow, with light head and lacing.
I have had the white whale of ale-dom, and this stands toe-to toe with Alchemist--this is not hyperbole--I signed up for BA to rate this beer.

Considering that Night Shift is only entering their 3rd year, I am expecting great things to accompany the likes of Whirlpool, Morph, Viva Habenera...

The Grapefruit Sculpin I tried just before, just got blown out of the water.

One of the best PA's I have ever tasted--get FRESH--mine was a week old.

Thanks to EnronCFO for the opportunity to try this one. 12oz. can served in a shaker pint. Pours a hazy, orange-gold with a loose, half-inch, bright white head that eventually settles into a consistent slick. Nose is subtle but pleasant - citrus notes and pale malts. Taste consistent with nose; however, it's a bit dull and the grain bill is a bit too forward. Mouthfeel is light in body with a lively carbonation that leaves a residual prickle across the roof of the mouth between quaffs. There's also a kiss of acidity to the mix. Overall, a decent APA but really not all that much happening here.

Pours a milky yellow, almost like pineapple juice, with a thin white layer of foam. Mild lacing. The aroma is very impressive. It actually smells like fruit juice. It smells exactly like peach juice. Also it smells like pineapple juice (funny, because it looks like it, too). The aroma isn't too intense but it works well, I enjoy its softness (night Shift refers to it being soft). On the tongue, the flavor displays a bit more balance; I pick up some cereal flavors. The peach and pineapple hop flavor, brought on by Mosaic hops, is the leading flavor. This beer is very unique. The hops bring forth such a specific flavor but it is overall a very mild experience. It's extremely drinkable; even quenching. Lively carbonation enhances the body and feel. Mild bitterness. I am very happy with this brew and I wish I bought a whole four pack of cans.

Via can.

A great pale ale, in my opinion. Maybe Night Shift's best offering.

Served in a snifter in their tap room.

Appearance: A one finger head was poured that reduced to a thin layer. It is a pale golden yellow color with some haziness and vision of tiny bubbles coming up through the middle of the glass. Spotty lacing down the glass as the beer was drank.

Smell: Definitely sweet peach, grassy, citrus, stone fruit, pale, and pilsner malts.

Taste: Nice hop flavor balance out with a simple malt backbone and slight bitterness in the rear.

Mouthfeel: Light, crisp, refreshing, medium carbonation, a little chewy, and slight bitterness.

Overall: Pretty nice APA. I'll revisit this one again in the future.

look; opaque pale sunny cloudy golden, 1" head, not much retention but lacing stays a while
smell;grapefruit, peaches, yeast, fresh cut grass, kiwi, an olfactory bomb
taste; similar to but even fruitier than the nose, less grapefruit, more kiwi and a hint of black pepper/cilantro/other spice
feel; a little sharp, bubbly, maybe a little thin for all the flavor
overall; nice full flavored juice pop of a beer, lots going on at 4.5 abv

Looks good, but uneven w/ off flavors. Really all over the place and no focus in this beer, I don't understand the small amt of hype.

Taste is grapefruit, peach, lemon, tangerine, and rind. A super juicy and citrusy ale. I have others I prefer in the style, but this is a quality beer. I would pick this one up again.
