2014 can into Lawson's snifter 8/26/2014.

A- Beautiful banana pear yellow body, one finger foamy white head, good retention time. Very nice shade of yellow. [4.25]

S- Citrus, oranges, peaches, nectarines. Slight amount of bread pale malt, a bit of grassy hops, but for the most part it smacks of tropical fruit. [4]

F- Grassy hop flavors, tangy orange pulp, nectarine skin. Overall, the fruit flavours aren't as vibrant on the palate as it is in the nose. [3.75]

M- Thinner bodied but not in a bad way. Easy to drink, not bitter at all, but does feel a bit bland on the finish, presumably from the less malt for the 4.3% ABV. [3.75]

O- Lighter bodied with a lot of fruity hops in the aroma, but a bit light on the flavour, even for a session pale ale. [3.75]

Final score 3.825

Appearance: Hazyish dark straw gold. head is bright-white and creamy. Starts off with a solid head, but drops to a small wispy cap and slightly thicker creamy collar in short order. Some splotches and streaks of lacing. Moderate carbonation on the pour.

Smell: Really soft malt base with a touch of powdery American yeast and a mildly sweet pale malt base. A bit of snappy cracker and some mildly bready elements, but it's all very mild. Hops hit big to juicy tropical fruit with a ton of peach, some mango, and a bit of melon and tangerine. Big dry-hop presence. Some minor pithy elements add a small backing bitterness but it's quickly covered over by the super juicy fruit aromas. Just delightful.

Taste: Peach. Lots of peach...or as much as you can have in a relatively mellow beer. Some more pronounced backing bitterness that comes across as pithy. Mellow malt backbone throws some mild bread crust and a bit more cracker. Mild pale malt sweetness adds a nice balance to the hops, but it's still a hop-forward beer. Lingering pine needle bitterness with a big juicy hop element that drops away quickly. A bit of grapefruit and tangerine as well. It's tropical without pushing the sugary sweetness that can accompany juicy tropical hops.

Mouthfeel: Mediumish body with a moderate carbonation. Clean and a touch crisp on the finish.

Overall: I can't get Daisy Cutter, so this will do nicely.

If this actually hits cans (that's the plan last I heard), I'll keep it in my fridge for everyday drinking. A mellow, hoppy pale ale from NE? Yes, it exists and this is it.

Pours a milky yellow, almost like pineapple juice, with a thin white layer of foam. Mild lacing. The aroma is very impressive. It actually smells like fruit juice. It smells exactly like peach juice. Also it smells like pineapple juice (funny, because it looks like it, too). The aroma isn't too intense but it works well, I enjoy its softness (night Shift refers to it being soft). On the tongue, the flavor displays a bit more balance; I pick up some cereal flavors. The peach and pineapple hop flavor, brought on by Mosaic hops, is the leading flavor. This beer is very unique. The hops bring forth such a specific flavor but it is overall a very mild experience. It's extremely drinkable; even quenching. Lively carbonation enhances the body and feel. Mild bitterness. I am very happy with this brew and I wish I bought a whole four pack of cans.

Via can.

Cheers to Goblinmunkey for hooking me up with some cans

Consumed 10/9/14

A: Lightly hazy honey gold with some tangerine hues - pours with a medium-sized, white head, fades to a wispy cap, leaves a few nice streaks of lacing

S: Decidedly light and mild - some nice citrus aromas - floral tangerine and some grapefruit - very peachy, although I would describe it more as an under-ripe, slightly tart peach or nectarine - some melon, cantaloupe, and other light hints of tropical flavors - light, bready malts, light crackers

T: Like peach slices on crackers, except much less weird and much more refreshing - light citrus, floral grapefruit and ripe tangerine flesh - prominent peach flavor - again, lightly under-ripe, almost tart - nice array of light, but interesting, tropical fruit flavors in the back including melon, mango, maybe some pineapple - very light malts, with some white bread and light crackers - some hints of yeast and mild bitterness, finishes very dry with minimal sweetness

M: Light body, nicely carbonated, smooth, extremely drinkable

O: You can actually drink this fast enough to create a whirlpool in your mouth

Night Shift has been increasing in prominence on my radar due to their consistently interesting sour and funky creations. But this is very different; it's a super-drinkable pale ale. Nailed it.
