Thanks to John11486 for sharing this one at my tasting.

Bottled 9/5/12.

Pours a murky orange with a foamy bone colored head that fades to nothing. Small dots of lace slowly drip into the remaining beer on the drink down. Smell is sour, tart, and funky with some berry and floral aromas. Taste is much the same with fruity and acidic finish. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer that is tasty and super easy to drink.

Bottle shared by someone at the Prairie night at West Lakeview Liquors. Served in a wine glass.

A - Transparent strawberry-colored body topped by a partial cap of white foam, a thick collar, and specks of lacing.

S - Great mix of strawberry and kiwi, with lactic sourness, tart lemon, and perhaps a touch of hibiscus; guessing the latter was more for color than flavor. Not a ton of the malt character, and quite sour and tart.

T - The taste is even more sour and puckering than the aroma; this is more of a sour ale than a Berliner. Perhaps a Florida Weisse if you will. Kiwi tartness and lactic acidity dominate, with some sweet strawberry creeping onto the palate late. Not a ton of hibiscus character here either.

M - Medium-light body, with a bit of lingering fruit stickiness that persists through an otherwise dry and crisp finish. Pleasant active carbonation that is style appropriate.

D - This was quite enjoyable and I could imagine having many a glass on a hot summer day. Perhaps a bit too sour for stylistic authenticity, but a very nice fruited American sour ale otherwise. Will have to keep Night Shift on my radar, as this was a pleasant surprise.

Bottle thanks to rudzud for sharing.

Nice big fizzy pink head fades fairly quickly with light spotty lacing, bright strawberry red colored beer very hazy.

Nose is very strawberry, fresh strawberry and straight up strawberry jam, very slight floral flowery like aroma and very very light wheat like, light earthy strawberry seed.

Taste stats quite tart, some soured strawberry and tons of fresh strawberry, strawberry jam, little sweet, nice acidic bite. There is a faint wheat but very light, soured wheat, flemmy too. I do get a faint kiwi but more earthy kiwi seed, actually I'm getting some nice kiwi flavor, but maybe no hibiscus. Finish is dry and flemmy, little sticky, tart, lots of strawberry lingering.

Mouth is med to lighter bod, lighter carb, sticky and light acidity.

Overall really good beer for a fruit sour, but as a Berliner Weiss it's not quite there... I'm all for pushing the bounds of styles but this is way too far out there, very very barely even resembling a Berliner Weiss, but as a sour strawberry beer it's awesome.

750ml corked and caged bottle into a matching Night Shift stemmed glass. The brew appears a clear ruby red to pink grapefruit juice color with a matching slight pink stained head. A full wall of stringy to patchy lace coats the glass.

The aroma is fruity like kiwi and strawberry. It is seedy and earthen with a little vinegar note to break things up. The fruity component of this smells wonderful. The way the kiwi and strawberry is captured is fantastic however the funk is strange and slightly off-putting.

The taste is lemony tart to almost acedic and seedy with both the advertised strawberry and kiwi inclusion. A little earthen with a strong greek yogurt sharpness to it underneath the fruitiness.

This is light bodied with a modest amount of carbonation. It is unique and quite tart but almost too bitey to the point where it hinders the overall drinkability. I think these guys are on the verge of greatness with their berliners. The fruit combinations are fantastic. It's just a little too sharp and the wild character doesnt always work.

On tap at Redbones
Comes to the table a light pink/amber color with an almost no existent head. The aroma is a little funky and a bit lactic with lots of strawberry dripping through my nose hairs. The flavor is lightly fruity with strawberries and hints of sour cherries poking through. Lightly sweet brown sugar and a whole lot of lactic flavor. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a tart puckering mouthfeel. I typically don't enjoy a Berliner but gussied up with strawberry and kiwi and it works for me, I enjoyed this with some brisket and a vinegar sauce.

750 mL bottle poured into a snifter. Batch 7, bottled 7/2/13.

Appearance - Bright pinkish red. Beautiful color. Pink head. Settles out quickly.

Smell - Very lactic. Kinda funky. A little fruity. Harsh acidic aroma. Strawberry comes out a little, but not super distinct.

Taste - Much fruitier. Strawberry comes into play more, but I think I'd peg it as a raspberry without the aroma. Again, it's got a harsh sourness. Musty.

Mouthfeel - Very tart. Medium carbonation.

Overall - I don't love the sourness in this. Kinda weird. Decent fruit though.

Picked up at the brewery today and shared with JLindros.

A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a hazy strawberry juice hue with a one finger white head that leaves light lacing and a faint blanket.

S - Aromas of strawberries galore, tons of jam notes with lovely hibiscus note, super faint wheat notes that one hopes to get with a Berliner. Sooo much strawberry her

T - Taste is pure strawberry jam here, nice sour note here with so much strawberry flash here. Light kiwi notes as well as tons of hibiscus notes, super strawberry notes, fresh and Jan notes. Delicious.

M - Mouthfeel is very nice for the style with some crisp carbonation.

O - Overall I fucking loved this beer, so much berry with this brew, it's a potent fruit but works nicely with this style, very drinkable, rush I could have gotten more of this.

In a snifter the beer was a beautiful clear ruby red color. There was a small pink head that dissipated quickly.

Mostly a strawberry aroma, as well as a floral/perfumey aroma. Sweet.

Strawberry and kiwi taste. Tart.

This was a great summer beer. Pleasantly tangy, sweet. I could drink a few of these.

A - Slightly murky, honey with pink champagne , not much head to ring fast, not much cling. Pretty color, though.

S - A little funky and a lot of sour. Can't detect much malt, but smells great. Very fruity but the sour prevents cloy.

T - Sour bomb! Remind me of my homebrew kriek in that way, but has more depth. A little funk, a lot of sour, malt is there but takes a back seat.

M - Light to medium body, good carb, nice balance.

D - Wish I had more than the one bottle.

Ordered from the sour reserve program and.picked up by caguiar65 (thanks chris!), enjoyed from a night shift wine glass. Brew pours a majestic ruby with a nice fizzy head that fizzed away almost immediately leaving spotty lacing at best. Great pinkish orange color. Smell is soft soury egg with fruit. You definitely get the strawberry and kiwi with hints of floral notes. Subtle sourness. Flavor matches the nose with great fruitiness and just the right amount of eggy funk and floral, almost brett like sweetness. Super easy drinker and a.pleasure in this beautiful summer day. Really glad to have another bottle and can't wait to try more from this brewery, hopefully get a chance to get a few more of these to enjoy all summer. Cheers night shift, well done!

750ml bottle into stemmed Night Shift glass. Thanks AutumnBeerLove! Bottled 7/2/13.

A: Pours a beautiful clear pink punch color with two fingers of bubbly, very light pink, head that faded into a very faint collar. Minimal spotty lace.
S: Tart acidic notes of clean lactic acid and sweet fruits. I get hints of strawberry, lemon and faint hibiscus. Tart and bright nose overall.
T: Follows the nose with a dominating Berliner base of tart acid beneath sweet flavors of strawberry syrup, fuzzy kiwi, and hibiscus. Lemon zest, cranberry and tart berries come through as well. The finish is full of acid, but the aftertaste brings some sweet strawberry jam and fruit juice.
M: Fuzzy and fizzy active carbonation, light body, tart and very dry mouthfeel. Acid is tart but not biting. Mild kiss of balancing sweetness helps it out.
O: Bright and easy to drink. Kiwi is subtle but strawberry adds a nice sweetness. Delicious, thanks again Kevin.

A-Pours an incredible, murky pink hue. Fizzy white head has some pinkish highlights. Head leaves nearly no lacing.

S-Tart and tangy. With sweet fruits. The strawberries are clearly noticeable. I can also get hints of the hibiscus. I love how this was brewed with kiwis! Delicious mixture of fruit and funk.

T-Dusty and funky but also very fruity. The kiwi /strawberry combo is great. Also has some nice floral notes too. The hibiscus really blends well with the fruits. Finish is highly acidic.

M-Light bodied and super drinkable. Prickly carbonation. Pleasantly tart lingering feel.

O/D-A really neat brew. Beautiful looking. I really enjoyed this. It may not be the most complex sour, but the combo of kiwi and strawberry is pretty awesome. A treat.

Pours Pinkish red with a decent white head. Reduces to a ring and skim, and maintains it. Some splashes of lace.

Sour funk and some musty notes up front. I get the hibiscus big-time in this. I'm getting something else, could be the other fruit. It works.

Big sour bite up front, with lactic notes and some lemon. The fruit is there, it just isn't sweet. Hibiscus and strawberry and lots of acid.Very mild bitterness on the back end, almost like...strawberry seeds. Big pucker in the finish. As the palate clears, pure natural strawberry essence.

Lighter bodied. Acidic, mouth puckering. Good carbonation.

A wonderful, light, refreshing, complex brew. The fruit and added flavors work wonderfully, and add great complexity. Found this at Berman's in Arlington. Couple of bottles left.

Batch #5, 5.3% ABV, bottled 5.6.13 (less than a month ago).

A: Pours a cloudy koolaid-pink with a big light fluffy white head (with pink hues). Head fizzes away pretty quickly, leaving only the most moderate of lacing. I gave it an extra .25 for the hot pink coloring.

S: Tart strawberry and kiwi. No noticeable floral notes from the hibiscus.

T: Tart strawberry and kiwi and lots of it. Not super sour, there is a lot of sweetness that helps balance it (but not totally, it's still quite tart). Nice transition of tart to sweet, reminds me of New Glarus' fruit beers. Like drinking liquid sour patch kids. Surprisingly nice for a berliner.

M: Medium bodied and smooth.

O: Huh, not what I was expecting. A great berliner. It's tart and funky but not horrifying. Has enough sweetness to balance it out somewhat but not completely. Strawberry and kiwi are great fruits for such a concoction I think. Great job Night Shift.

A: Pours very pretty pinkish orange color. High carbonation. Slight pinkish bright white layer of head. Leaves some lacing bits.

S: Tons of fruit on nose. Definitely getting the strawberry. Tartness. Sour. Lactic notes.

T: Prickly tartness up front. It's almost more of a full on Lambic than Weisse IMO. Just not as funky. Lots of kiwi and strawberry coming through. Very floral in flavor. It is almost like drinking perfume in a good way. Finish is bone dry. Refreshing as hell.

M: Light bodied. High carbonation clears palate.

750ml C&C bottle (Batch #7, 7/2/13) poured into an Idle Hands tulip glass.

A - Pours a glowing, brilliant pink color that looks like a Berliner Weiss with the raspberry syrup already added, a shade paler than the Rubaeus I just consumed, with good clarity, plenty of bubble streams rising up the glass and a low finger pink tinted foam that recedes slowly to leave behind a clingy collar of bubbles. Sparse lacing left behind as the beer level drops.

S - Nice and tart base, lactic in nature. Quite floral, rose petal-y, perfumey. Fruity strawberry and kiwi add some nice complexity to the aroma, hints of cherries. Mild sugary sweetness.

T - Rather tart up front and quite dry. Lactic sourness is assertive and welcome. Quite sour overall for a Berliner Weiss. Fruity with cherry, strawberry and kiwi all showing strongly in the flavor profile. Floral presence also, assuming the hibiscus flowers. Hints of an earthy funkiness in the finish.

M - Fairly thin in body with a strong fizzy carbonation. Quite tart and sour...very dry and puckering. Lingering dryness after the swallow. Fruity and floral. Refreshing on a warm day, but a bit too tart to be one to put down quickly.

O - Very good and enjoyable sour beer. I would call this a bit too sour to fit well into the Berliner Weiss category. Nice fruity flavors to complement the sour, touch of funk. Just a very good sour beer.

Drank from a 750 ml/1 pint, 9.4 fl. oz. corked and caged bottle purchased at Night Shift Brewing, Everett, MA
Batch #5
Bottled on: 6.1.13
Served in a goblet

Gorgeous, slightly hazed, magenta appearance. A small, crackly, bone white head capped the liquid, but it quickly dissipated to a lasting ring. Thin streaks of lacing stuck along the glass. The beer bore a striking resemblance to a sparkling Rosé wine.

The nose was remarkably interesting and complex. Super fruity and tart. Hibiscus tea notes and strawberry jam came through front and center. Lots of lemony tartness. Hints of kiwi. Yeasty, tangy and crisp. Slightly funky and musty with mild barrel notes.

The flavor profile was much more sour and acidic than the nose. Tons of lemony tartness. Crisp, dry and yeasty. Wheaty. Generic berry-like notes were apparent. Perhaps some under ripe strawberries. Subtle tea-like qualities. Hint of oak/barrel. Lemon and vinegar came through on the super acidic finish.

The beer was lighter bodied with a crisp, sprightly effervescence. Once the liquid settled on the palate, it felt surprisingly soft and creamy.

Ever Weisse is an amazingly interesting and complex Berliner weisse that makes terrific use of the added flavors. This brewery-only release is reason enough to make the trip to Night Shift.

750 ml bottle was poured into a large Duvel glass.

Appearance: This beer poured a 2 finger pink hear that reduced to a thin layer. It Isa hazy pink color with vision of bubbles coming up through the glass.

Smell: Barnyard aromas, rubber tires, fruity strawberries, and bready notes.

Taste: tart, rubber tires, acidic, and quite the sour tasty one.

Mouthfeel: Dry, medium to high carbonation, tart, light bodied, and puckery.

Overall: Pretty nice twist on a Berliner weisse. The fruit addition and hibiscus is coil as it gets. Will look more for this in the future.

Big thanks to Bilco for sharing the bottle.

Appearance: Hazed rose pink. Seriously looks like a cocktail. Bright-white collar fades quickly. Lively, but not effervescent carbonation. It's pretty.

Smell: Loaded with tart and funky. Fruit is nice and soft and sweet. Strawberry with a bit more edge (must be the kiwi). Very floral. Bright citric tartness. Something woody and earthy underneath all the fruit. Nicely lactic. Warming just blends it all together, cutting out a bit of the sweetness. Some lemon juice with a soft yeast in the back. So much strawberry.

Taste: Sharp lactic bite right up front gives way to a slower citric twang. Sweet and fruity with a bit hit from the strawberry. Hibiscus adds a distinct backing floral component. Some light barrel influence with a mildly earthy yeast. Nice and tart. Some wet funk pushes through. More tart than the nose. A bit of vinegar as it warms. Strikes a nice balance between puckering and sweet.

Mouthfeel: Nice and light with a solid carbonation. Incredibly refreshing. A bit astringent over the course of a full glass, but that's not entirely unexpected. Clean.

Overall: I'll make the trip to Night Shift for future releases of this and other weisse happenings.

My favorite weisse from Night Shift to date. Tart and funky, but uses fruit to great effect. Planning on cleaning up with a case on the next release. Could drink an entire bottle, but it would probably crack your tongue.

Bottle picked up at their release party titled "Ever Local". Hand-written on bottle says 5.1% abv, Batch #1, Bottled on 9/5/12. Poured into Founders snifter.

A- Pours a hazy slightly translucent pinkish color with a slight yellowish orange hue to it, about a finger of white fizzy head that recedes fairly fast to leave a perfectly flat top, nice carbonation of consistently rising bubbles.

S- Wow the smell hits you right when you uncork the bottle. Smells of strawberries mixed with kiwis and a hint of a floral smell lingering in the background from the hibiscus leaves. There is a considerable amount of tangy tartness mixed with the sweet fruit that makes it's presence known right away, but does subside a little bit.

T- Kiwis and strawberries add a nice upfront fruitiness, the hibiscus lends a little bit of a floral finish that balances well with the fruit, and a pleasant level of tanginess that stays throughout the beer adds a nice component to the sweet fruit flavors. An aftertaste of kiwis and hibiscus lingers for awhile. Hibiscus dominates a little bit more once it warms. Flavors all balance well for a fairly tasty beer.

M- A little bit on the thin side but a nice body for a berliner, nice carbonation, easy to drink.

O- This was a nice surprise from a local brewery that's still fairly new to the craft beer scene. In my opinion this is definitely the best beer they've brewed yet and a nice Berliner. I definitely recommend checking it out if you like sours.

This stuff is simply awesome. Beautiful hazy, bright ruby red with a frothy but short-lived light pink head. Huge aromas of fresh fruit, yeast, and funk. Crazy carbonation. Probably one of the most carbonated beers I've ever had. In a good way. Great flavor and fantastic body. You get the strawberries, kiwi, and hibiscus if you search hard enough. I could drink this every day for many days at a time. Refreshing, delicious, sour, well-crafted. High quality beer in general and even better for the style.

A - Strawberry red with a good amount of carbonation trailing upwards. Rocky white head sits on top

S - Sweet strawberry and kiwi are up front. There is slight passion fruit as well. A light vinegar is in the nose that makes you expect a slight tartness in the taste. However, it's in the back of the nose and is just their slightly

T - Tart lemon and vinegar that gives it the tart sweetart bite you'd expect with a berliner. The strawberry and kiwi come up light near the back to give the beer a nice fruity presence. The fruit is also what lingers on in the finish

MF - Has a tart bite and a surprisingly low amount of carbonation. The finish is rather dry

O - This is a tart Berliner that has a nice sweet and fruit presence that balances, but does not diminish, the tartness you'd expect from a Berliner.

750ml bottle, generously opened up by Dustin yesterday 10/8/2013. Poured into a Pipeworks snifter. My first Night Shift brew.

Pours a very pretty pinkish-red body, very effervescent and refreshing-looking. Good retention, leaves some lacing.

Tart kiwi, hints of strawberry fruitiness, vinegary acidity and a bit of funk. Nice fluffy scent that doesn't take too much work to pull into my nose. Pretty delicious smelling, might be a bit too acidic though.

Intense kiwi tartness, lots of vinegar and citrus acidity. A small bit of rubbery earthy funk, but not a ton. Some fructose-like sweetness underlies it all, assuming this is from the strawberry. Very intense flavour, complex and interesting.

Medium bodied, good carbonation. Might have a bit too much intensity for a Berliner Weiss, to be honest. It drinks more like a full fledged American Wild Ale than anything else.

Very interesting, very complex sour Berliner Weiss. Very enjoyable. Highly recommend.

Bottle courtesy of Mike I believe...thanks so much buddy. 750 ml bottle, batch 4, bottled 5/6/13. Shared with the wife.

Pours a murky orange akin to nectar into my tiny little Night Shift Brewing glass....damn, thanks for that too Mike!

Strawberry is large on the nose along with biting sourness. I guess I could pull Kiwi, but it's likely just based on being told so. Smells of an aggressively sour strawberry.

The aggressive sourness explodes on the tongue. Again the seedy strawberry is most prevalent but it hangs on for dear life as the sour tsunami crashes and pummels into my tasting places. A sweet tart sugary finish lies shipwrecked and exhausted.

Snappy, light, and sour as hell.

A pretty good beer that could be better. The sourness becomes fatiguing and doesn't allow the fruits to showcase themselves nearly enough. I enjoyed this but I think it has the opportunity to be a pretty great beer...it's just not there now.

Huge thanks to beersndrums for this one!

Mildly hazy pink color reminiscent of grapefruit juice with a frothy light pink head that dissipates relatively rapidly without much lace to speak of. The aroma is mostly strawberries with a lot of noticeable lactic sourness and a good amount of Brett mustiness. The flavor, on the other hand – look out. This thing is mouth-puckeringly sour. Strawberry and kiwi are prevalent with tons of sour acidity. At the finish, an earthy, floral taste comes out that may be the hibiscus and an earthy, musty, and funky flavor that has to be some Brett. The mouthfeel is tough to appreciate just because this thing is so sour but it’s light-medium-bodied with good carbonation. While this is too sour to fit into the Berliner weisse category, it is a delicious beer that is definitely worth a try if you can get ahold of it. Especially after seeing “brewery only” on the label, thank you so, so much for giving me a chance to try this beer, Jared! Cheers!
