I think Night Shift has found its niche. They brew some beautiful Berliner weissbiers.

This one was poured into a snifter and had the color of a slightly rose wine. There was no head or lace, but the color was striking.

Sweet, fruity aroma. A little spice. Funky oak.

Blueberry taste. Cinnamon, but not a lot of spice to it. Tannins.

Sweet and tart. To me, one of their tartest. I thought the cinnamon worked well.

750 mL bottle poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Deep orange. A little hazy. Small white head.

Smell - Vinegary acidity. Very sharp. A little fruity, but not what I'd called blueberries. Faint cinnamon.

Taste - Very sharp sourness. Vinegar. Again a faint berry flavor that isn't overtly blueberry. Cinnamon is strong in the finish.

Mouthfeel - Very sour. Unpleasant at points. I don't love the Night Shift berliner profiles.

Overall - Too intense in the wrong areas for me.

Cheers to Goblinmunkey7 for picking this up at the brewery and now sharing it

Consumed 11/8/13

Appearance: An interesting pink color - some interesting peach tones with some light purple - hazy - pours with a small, white head, fades to absolutely nothing, doesn't leave lacing (due to the lack of head)

Smell: Tart and funky - some big tart notes, blueberry flesh, and some vinegar - funkiness vividly reminds me of Somer Weisse (maybe the house yeast, maybe the house barrels) - definitely interesting, with some interesting fruit - some serious blueberry skin, with blueberry flesh, minus the fruity sweetness - some nice wood

Taste: Sour, tart, funky, and fruity - damp, wet lactic sour, and some more tart, bright acidic sour - some funky mustiness - the blueberries are very interesting here - some tartness from the sourness, and some berry tartness - some berry flesh as well, very fresh - cinnamon was not particularly notable in the aroma, but it's definitely in the taste - the cinnamon works very well with the blueberries and the tartness - some pale malts in the background, some light bread

Mouthfeel: Light, smooth, low carbonation actually works pretty well, finishes very tart

Overall: 1) Make blueberry pie; 2) abandon and let ferment; 3) ???; 4) Profit

This is quite a charming Berliner Weiss. It's tart and funky, with some nice blueberry notes. At times this kind of walks the line between a sour and a Berliner Weiss. And that's not a bad thing.
