Thanks to Wowcoolman for sharing this one at Retsinis' tasting.
Batch # 2. Bottled on 1/20/14.
Pours a murky light red with a foamy white head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is slightly sour with malt, grain, cranberry, and acidic aromas. Taste is much the same with slightly sour grain and cranberry flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of acidity on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with a solid slightly sour cranberry aspect in the aroma and flavor.

750 received in trade... Pours a hazy pink... Sorta looks like watered down Strawberry Quik... Not necessarily a bad think. Pretty traditional Berliner qualities, tart lemon, lightly bready.. the cranberry IMO almost softens the Berliner notes and adds to the drinkability... there is a hint of orange zest that adds to the overall complexity and makes me appreciate it that much more.

Pours the color of ruby grapefruit juice with a hazy clarity and a voluminous, pink-tinted head. Nose expresses yeast, bready notes and a suggestion of citrus. Taste consistent with nose with the addition of a tart cranberry. Mouthfeel is light and lively with quite a bit of astringency. Overall, a very good beer but I prefer my Berlinner-weissbiers a bit cleaner and lemony.

Pours a clear reddish wood color, like an herbal tea or something, has a thin head to start with and it fades to just the rim pretty quickly.
Smells of tart fruit, some kind of berry, hints of citrus too, something acidic like orange juice maybe. Mild vinegar note too.
Pretty damn tart up front, some lightly sweet vinegary flavor buried under there, good amount of dry berry fruit character that is now more recognizable as cranberry, oranges noticeable too, the fruit doesn't exactly jump our but it's definitely the dominant flavor. Puckering sour.
Carbonation is too low and sourness too high for this to be as refreshing as a berlinerweiss should be, but if you think of it more as a still cranberry lambic it's not so bad. :)

Batch 2 from January 2014, last years sour futures program. Enjoyed from a night shift wine glass.
a - brew pours an almost grapefruit pink. Really murky. Thin fizzy head that hung out for a while as new fizz bubbled up to the surface to replace the former, now dissolved fizziness.
s - nose is cranberry and lacto. Soft and crisp and focused.
t - really nice tart cranberry. Totally hits the spot on this wonderful spring afternoon. Great Berliner with really nice flavoring.
m - soft carb not nearly as fizzy as it looks. Easy drinking on a sunny afternoon.
o - overall, another winner in the Weisse category for night shift. These beers are all great.

Thanks to pjl44 for this bottle!
750ml C&C bottle. batch 2. bottled on 1/20/2014.
poured into tulip glass,
Appearance: opaque beer that look like ruby red grafefruit juice or pink lemonade. One finger of white head.
Smell: most prominent aroma is the lacto cheesy/greek yogert funk. Moderately acetic notes and vinegar that leads me to think this is going to be fairly sour. Hints of cranberry add a tartness to the nose.
Taste: mild tartness with moderate cheesy and greek yogert funkiness. Hint of cranberries, green apples, and lemons. Simple, but this beer really tastes nice! I like that this beer still tastes like a Berlinner Weisse, but it has a hint of cranberries to accent the already great beer. I really would have liked to get some citrus out of this beers flavor profile, but it was mostly cranberries. Thats the only downfall of this beer, but I gotta say that its a minor thing to the big picture of this brew.
Mouthfeel: light bodied beer with almost moderate carbonation levels. Light, crisp, spritzy, and very refreshing beer. Very drinkable, but it should be at 4.8% ABV.
Overall: This is the final Nightshift berlinner weiss that I have yet to try out of these seasonal Nightshift brews. This is the 2nd best only behind Ever Weiss. Nightshift and made some unique berlinner weisse beer and it was an awesome ride getting to try all 4 of these seasonal beers by Nightshift. Nightshift is a great East coast brewery for sure. They make some of my favorite berlinner weisse beers brewed in the USA.
