Caged and corked 750 ml bottle thanks to Yamar 18. Cheers, Kevin!
A loud pop when I removed the cork with no gushing...yeah, I LIKE that.
It pours a slightly hazy light gold with 2 fingers of foam. Lacing looks to be very good.
I get a very spicy smell. earthy notes..that could be what the label says about salt. There's a fruity kind of hoppiness going on that's citrus and more.
It's pretty darn tasty. Grainy, earthy, can definitely sense some salt, kind of hoppy with the fruitiness and that grain of Paradise thingy going on. Overall, the flavours seem to mesh very well and I am enjoying them.
Fairly light bodied with just a tad more carbonation than I'd like.
4.6% abv, bottled Sept 4, 2013, the foam hanging in there big time, this, imho, is a very nice brew.

750ml bottle (batch #2, bottled on 9/4/13, 4.6%) poured into an Idle Hands tulip.
A - Pours a pale, hazy golden straw color with a big two fingers of rocky head that lingers for a short time, slowing fizzing its way back to the surface.
S - Spicy on the nose with some cloves and a bit of phenolic band-aidy aroma. Big citrus component - lemons and a big orangey aspect that is really nice. Smells more saison'y to me than Belgian Pale Ale, but I suppose the style cross over a bit in some examples. At any rate, smells pretty good...a good start so far.
T - Firm hoppy bitterness that comes on early and lingers throughout and past the swallow - a bit medicinal in character. Phenols, yeasty esters, cloves give a spicy hit. Big citrus as in the aroma, mostly oranges again. Noticeably saltiness that catches on in the middle and lingers to the finish and gives a second taste on a lick of the lips. I didn't notice the salt so much on the first pour, but having the entire 750ml myself, the second pour into the glass brought it out much more (temp change, salt settling in the bottom of the bottle - didn't notice this in appearance, but wasn't looking for it either). Towards the end it becomes so prominent that it begins to detract from the beer.
M - Lightish body, firm medium/high carbonation with a good tingle to it. Big saltiness, a somewhat medicinal bitterness that lingers long, nice fruity aspects.
O - This smells really great, and the first half glass left a mostly positive impression. The further I got into the bottle the more the salt became noticeable and then eventually overpowering and a focal point of each sip. I'd kinda like to give this a try on tap to see if there was a salt settling issue in the bottle. Interesting beer...glad to try it.
