This is a gorgeous setting -- very nicely done inside and out, somewhat eclectically decorated (tubas, hops, and taxidermy) with an interesting copper tap system. The interior is a series of smaller rooms with the tap room near the center. Also a grand, rather fantastically painted, stairway leading up to the bathrooms upstairs.
The beers (typical Berlin selection of dunkel, hell/pils and hefe) were fine. And the food was ok too (we got a brauhaus platter with roast pork in beer sauce, wursten und leberkase, also a schnitzel platter which was a bit overdone, but covered up well by jaeger sauce). The menu lists mainly Austrian and Bavarian dishes. I nice place, but I wouldn't say this is a destination necessarily worth the trip out of the center of Berlin.
As far as I am aware, they are not affiliated with Lemke (who now own Lemke at Hackeser Market, as well as Luisenbrau and Mitte), nor are they any longer owned by Jas Albrecht who the Good Beer Guide Germany says owned them for a while. So I beleive they are independent again. And a fine stop if you are in the neighborhood!
