Keep in mind that this is Mississippi which is still the beer wasteland of America. We still have 5% abw restriction, but our fingers are crossed.
Stopped in here prior to a Josh Turner concert.
Location is good, right downtown near the Riley Center. Atmosphere is good. This is a sports bar with exposed brick walls, a couple of nice pool tables and a bunch of t.v's along the walls tuned into various sports channels. There is a huge projection screen over the bar with SEC basketball on. A small stage is situated in one corner and I understand they have live music regularly. All of Meridian is non-smoking which adds to the atmosphere.
Service was fair. They were nice but seemed a little preoccupied with setting up tonights band.
Beer selection is good for Mississippi and certainly for Meridian. They got a 4 for effort because their hands are tied here. It's all bottles, but I counted at least about 25 options. Nothing earth shattering but there were several Sam Adams varieties, Rogue, Guiness, Abita, Lazy Magnolia. Would have liked to have seen some Sam Smith, which is available in Meridian. Maybe I just missed it. Glassware is a red solo cup.
Food was edible, but this is definitely not where I would go to eat. Basically it's fried snack food. They also have some burgers.
These guys are obviously trying to bring some variety to Meridian. Hopefully once HB 1422 passes in the MS legislature they will get some really good craft beer in. I hope Meridian will support a craft beer bar, but I have my doubts. Most of the locals were still wearing out the bud light.

Stopped back in at the Brickhouse and things have improved drastically. Great tap selection for the area - probably the best in east-central Mississippi. They now have beer flights of four at around $8.00. Taps are expected to increase in the next few weeks with more regional beers as well as other popular breweries from around the country. This is a great place to hang out and catch a game.

Further on up the road. They’re trying to get me to stop at more places and I’m agreeing but each addition wipes out something else one for one, as I’m the one doing the 5 hour driver from points LA to AL. Having strayed from the highway, we find Davo confused. I’m sorry, he’s not Davo; he’s David LeBoud in the south. I’ll try to remember that so we don’t get him jackpotted down here. And so we arrive in Meridian, at the ‘Mississippi craft beer headquarters’, or so the sign says…
Parked angled on the strip and walked on up. Large open room, ¼ black walls uppers with a red trim over ¾ brick wall lowers. Black slat wood ceiling with matching duct work down center hiding recessed florescents & a few spinnys spinning to each side, and red concrete floors.
‘L’ shaped wood plank topped bar to the rear with a vertical wood slat base & a foot box. Seating for a baker’s down on swivel stools. Kitchen to the rear, and a cold box in the far corner with taps alternating upper lower upper lower upper lower the length 2 sides around. 63 taps at capacity, though only 51 up just now. The cold box is pasted with stickers brewery & otherwise. Hey, you don’t get to rip ‘Keep Cleveland boring’ when you sport a Trump MAGA sticker. Soda & macro bottles & can cooler alongside the cold box with a few Yuengling growls atop.
There is no printed list but a single LED board on the far wall annoyingly lists 5 beers at a ‘thanks for nothing’ time (Sure, that’s cool, I want to spend 10 minutes looking at the screen to see the entire list scroll through so I can pick a beer, yeah, no. Absolutely fucking no). They are grouped by style, listing brewery, beer, origin, ABV, IBU (sometimes), & cost. I count 14 beers from Mississippi (Lazy Magnolia, Southern Prohibition, Threefoot, Lucky Town, Natchez) and 12 from Louisiana (Parish, Abita, Dixie), so that’s half of them anyway (Question for you: Would you ask about the absence of any beers from Alabama or just let it go? Sigh…) I started with the Lucky Town Pub Ale (English Mild) and then had a Parish Envie (Pale Ale); both were served in icy cold glasses pulled from a freezer box so it was hard to get a fix on them, if you know what I mean, and I know you know what I mean.
3 booths & 10 tables (square, rec, & roundie) riddling the room, plus a small forward corner stage, and a hot dog grill against the wall should shit start getting real. Brewery signage, neons, banners, yep. Flats on the side wall 3 & 3 above the trim and projection screens to the rear above the bar. Side door there (me, pointing) leads to a large outdoor lot space, with a serious stage set up in the rear corner, a half dozen picnic tables, & cornhole.
Davo, damn, I’m sorry, um… Mr. LeBoud suggested that we ‘just grab a snack’ and then ordered cheese sticks and a giant goddamn burger. What? Yes, of course there were fries; he’s not a monster. I attempted to go small with a pair of 2 chicken tacos, which were ginormous, so I failed, except the tacos were excellent so I’m claiming a win. And Phil ordered boneless wings, because, you knooooow.
They are playing aaaaaaaaalot of Mumford & sons. They’ve got a good list, you just can’t see it all in one place at a given moment. Ditch the icy glasses. Food was real damn good and portions a-plentiful. If you’re looking for the Mississippi beer bar, this is it. And now back to the highway, we go. it’s hours to Birmingham yet, and daylight’s fading fast.

Finally had the chance to be in Meridian and check this spot out yesterday. I met the owner during the grand opening of Lucky Town here in Jackson a couple months back. I had heard of the place before but talking to him got me to make a point to check it out as soon as I got the chance.
Again, as mentioned on other reviews, this is a Mississippi bar so you must take review within the scope of compared to other Miss bars.
I really liked the place. It was simple, clean, and had a great selection. I stopped in for a late lunch around 1. There were only 5 other patrons other than myself. As you are facing the bar the beer menu is on blackboards on your left, food menu same fashion on the right.
Had the cheese steak sandwich and is was pretty good, and I have had chesse steak in Philly.
Around 35 taps I think; and you will find almost every Miss brewery represented which is great. You would be surprised how few locations carry more than one or two. I liked the way they seem to not just offer Miss craft beer but make it the center of attention. We are still in our crawling phase in the craft beer world.
For service I had to give it a 3. The barman was a little lost it seemed. Each time I ordered a pint he had to look up on the blackboards, why them and not at the taps don't ask me. Was slow at times, and remember there were only 6 customers in the place. Maybe he was just bored, needed more action. I hope so, becasue he would be drowning on a busy night I bet.
I can't speak to other Meridian craft beer locations, but for now, for me, this will be my place to hit when I am coming through.
If you on I-20, passing through, and love craft beer you should stop and try a glass or two of what we have to offer. Hop Heads check out Lazy Magnolia's Timber Beast, stout lovers check on Lucky Town's Flare Incident. And you can't really go wrong with anything from Southern Prohibition.
cheers.....

Friday, 6/20/12 a group of friends and I all gathered at the Brickhouse. The place was full, and there are two round tables by the bar/stage area that are marked VIP, one was empty and no other places to sit, the 8 of us gathered around the table. We have been there before and there was no VIP tables or cover charge. This is a bar and grill. This place has gone to other businesses (ours included) dropping off menus, yet they want to charge cover? The general manager and his gal pal and their friends are the VIPs. If I were an owner or general manager and there were three people, me being one, and only two seats, I would have the paying customers sit down, even if it meant I stood up. We go to Weidmann's frequently and they serve dinner in their bar area and never have we been charged a cover. It is not like the Brickhouse has the best food or band playing. There is really no dance floor, just an area in front of the stage, a path where most walk or gather. No one was dancing. We were told (by the cook from kitchen) we were not allowed to sit at the table we were at and asked to move back to the area by two pool tables. The general manager did not have the decency to tell our husbands, so he had the cook tell us. We are some of Meridian's business elite, we could have gone anywhere, but stopped by the Brickhouse and was treated in this manner. Clearly, the general manager was angry with us and his gestures, tone and expressions was shocking. We complied and moved, after our second round of drinks ($108.00), before the band even played. We all recall seeing him at the pool table with his gal pal and another woman, upon entering the place. Is this a placed designed around him and his female entourage or the public? Is this just a another cheap corner bar or a place they bill as a bar and grill, where one can go to have drinks/dinner? We decided not to order off the menu, because of the rude treatment. Before we could even leave the round table by the bar marked VIP, the general manager's gal pal and her friend sat down after two of my party stood up, as if winning and conquering. We feel there are other places like Weidmann's, The Echo, Rhythm and Brews, BWW we can go eat and have a beer or mixed drink. The man at the door told us they just started the cover charge, last week. How can they be under the guidelines of a restaurant if they are operating solely as a bar? The owners need to look into this matter before the Brickhouse joins the list of other failed businesses in the downtown area. I suggest you go somewhere they appreciate your business and offer more for your money. Dinner and drinks at Weidmann's = no cover, and they have live music. At least you can hear your party of people talk. Afterwards, go to The Echo or Rhythm and Brews and dance on a real dance floor. They would be glad for your business and money and I promise they will not have two large round tables for the general manager to play studman - Jen

Updated Review: This bar is now under new ownership. The actual bar is twice the size that it once was and they have added a draft wall with 33 taps. Most all of the regional breweries are represented. Growlers are available and they have about 30 or so different bottles. The stage is opposite to where it once was. I'm told that there will be a food menu added next week. This is the place to come to if you're looking for good beer and a laid back atmosphere. Staff is really friendly and prices are fair.
