11.2 oz bottle into a pint glass. Odd size for an American microbrewery.
Pours a clear straw yellow with a tiny fizzy head that quickly fades to nothing. Absolutely no lacing at all.
Aromas is full of cereal grain with a little bit of toasted caramel. No hops are detectable.
Taste is toasted malt and cereal grain Not much in the way of hop flavor with some light bitterness coming in towards the finish. Also some alcohol detectable in the finish. Mouthfeel is very watery.
Overall this beer just doesn't do it for me. Some nice elements are their but none of it really comes together. Flavors are too bland and honestly, this beer doesn't really need to be 6.5%. The higher strength really detracts because the alcohol is not hidden at all. Not something I will pick up again.

Tasted On: 06-08-2012
Freshness: Not indicated
Packaging: 330 ml brown bottle, twist-cap
Glassware: Tulip pint
Purchased: Single from Frugal MacDoogal, Nashville
This bottle looks very similar to the regular Lynchburg Lager, except for the words Original Gravity on the label, along with the higher 6.5% ABV markings.
A: Clear, bright and golden in color. The head sits 2 fingers high, white, with very good lacing and a good amount of retention. Carbonation is lively.
S: Bready, sweet malty aromas are joined by floral hops. Very pleasant.
T: Following the nose, the taste features the pale malts with a sweetness, but is not cloying. Herbal hops and a little citrus tang help balance the taste, but overall there's not much bitterness. This version is definitely more flavorful than the lower alcohol one.
M: Carbonation is towards the high side, and body is somewhere between medium and full. The finish is smooth and leaves you with more of the malt notes.
O: Very refreshing lager; I enjoyed it. I'm not sure if American Pale Lager is the best BA style to list this under, but since there isn't an all-malt strong American lager style, it seemed best.
