after enjoying a number of nice coconut beers on our florida trip last week, my hopes for this one were significantly higher. however, this one tastes sweet and cheap and a little forced and artificial to me, not bad of course because its coconut and pretty much anything coconut is going to be at least good, but its maltier and more sugary than it needs to be by quite a lot, and as such lacks the drinkability we all would have prefered in it. an unexpected caramel color to it from the can, and a sweet, nutty aroma and palate, i get baked dessert, upside down cake and biscuits, definitely not crisp. if you took out the coconut, im not sure this would really pass as a blonde ale. thats being critical though, and the positive side of that same thought is that maybe they were going for a toasted coconut vube, trying to make it a bit richer and more cooked, give it some character beyond raw fleshy coconut, and if thats the case, mission pretty well accomplished. lots and lots of coconut, but sort of like candy to me, and it lingers really long in the finish, not at all refreshing, but kind of attractive to me in a guilty pleasure sort of way. overall this is a little less than fully natural to me, but because its coconut, its agreeable enough. i hoped to like this better, glad we only got one can in a mixed six instead of committing to all six, that would have been a lot of these to drink through, at least for my tastes...

Not a good beer. There is a pretty strong coconut aftertaste, which is the whole point, but the smell is of burnt wood, which was odd. My primary gripe is with the claim that this is some variation of a blonde ale. I could not pick out anything in this beer that was even remotely close to being a blonde ale, including the color. I ended up pouring it out.

Pours a clear golden color with a small white head on top. Can smell sweet coconut that overpowers other smells. Tastes like coconut with a little malt at the back end. Goes down smooth.

Appearance: Arrives clear and amber with a small white head; the retention was acceptable but there was not much lacing
Smell: The coconut was clearly apparent; bready tones underneath
Taste: Bread and coconut forward with a moderate sweetness building; not much development in the flavors from start to finish
Mouthfeel: Light to medium body with moderate carbonation
Overall: A fairly simple beer for a lovers of coconut to quaff on a hot Florida day

Beach brew. Pours with nice head. The coconut is prominent, the ale golden, the smell like coconut water. Easy to drink. Best cold.
