On tap at Ojai Beverage Company in Ojai, CA.

Pours a hazy orange-brown with a foamy beige head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Tiny dots of lace slowly drip into the remaining beer on the drink down. Smell is of malt, earth, yeast, and spice aromas. Taste is much the same with toast, caramel, fruit, and spice flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of spice bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that has decent aromas, but the taste is slightly better to me.

Serving type: on tap.

Surprising red color, more of a cherry brown. Not much of a head in the 12 oz tulip. Fruity, winey, and tangy brew. This one actually tastes like gooseberries. Sharp moouthfeel. Salty and a bit sourish. Overall it's a savory sort of taste rather than the sweet and malty.

Warm and roasted malt does make an appearance, but this is not at all sweet. Light bodied. There is a slight drying sensation after some sipping, but I don't taste a lot of Belgian flavors. Not much carbonation in the mouth.

An interesting but unsatisfying brew. On tap at Local Habit in San Diego.

April 27, 2015 update: Tasting from the 750 ml bottle. Fruity with a touch of butter. Dried apples and biscuits. More on the sweet side. I'd rate this version higher.
