On tap it poured a dark amber with an off white two finger head. Leaves some nice lacing as well. Smell isn't anything great but its not off putting. You really pick up the biscuity nutty malts. Reminds me of a German lager in smell. Taste is great, has a sharp nutty malty note up front that ends in a very subtle burnt sweetness. Mouthfeel is great as well, highly drinkable. Sharp at first but ends clean and soft.
Overall this beer has impressed me. This doesn't necessarily stand out but it is a fine example of a red ale.

On-tap at Monkish,
A: Pours red with a medium light tan head, solid head retention, clear, nice look.
S: Peppery notes and biscuity malt, standard to the style.
T: Nice rich malt flavour with an intriguing mix from the peppercorns. Spicy flavour, almost a rye malt like taste with some nice balancing hop notes.
M: Crisp, another clean beer from these guys, medium-bodied.
O: An upfront straightforward red ale with a little something different, an enjoyable effort.

On tap at Monkish Brewing Company in Torrance, CA.
Pours a slightly hazy dark amber with a foamy khaki head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Foamy streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, grain, caramel, and some peppery aromas. Taste is much the same with a floral and spice aftertaste. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer with some nice aromas and flavors that make it easy to drink.

Bought a growler of this from Monkish a few days ago. We'll see how it's held up in the growler after a few days. Growler was sealed with electrical tape. Poured into Bruery tulip.
Carbonation is still good! Poured a nice head which quickly died to a rim around the glass. Appearance is a dark amber red (which seems fitting).
Hints of sweet dark fruits (figs, dates, etc.) and biscuit on the nose. Taste is similar. In the background you can notice the influence of the Belgian yeast used and the red peppercorn adds a little to the interest. I've had beers with peppercorns where the pepper just dominates. That's not the case here.
Mouthfeel is very good. Goes down smooth.
Overall this is another pretty good beer from Henry at Monkish. I can easily drink this throughout the week.
