On tap at Monkish Brewing Company in Torrance, CA.

Pours a clear dark orange-brown with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Foamy patches of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of toasted malt, grain, citrus zest, and a variety of traditional Winter spices. Taste is much the same with citrus zest and lots of spice flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of roasty bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with some nice spice aromas and flavors. (633 characters)

- 2014 vintage
- 750mL bottle poured into stemless wine glass on 6-Dec-14

This straight-up smells and tastes like Coke, if Coca Cola made a Christmas version of it's original Coke. The Belgian candy yeast is a little too cloying for my personal tastes. But I can appreciate the good texture, no heat despite the abv, and good balance of cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. I would've appreciated a bit more malt build. Overall, a good one to share for the holidays. (461 characters)

On-tap at the Source,

A: Pours a deep brown with a medium tan head, some nice thick lace.

S: Heavy on the Christmas spice, orange peel, prunes.

T: Lots of dark fruit mixed with a delicious taste of spice and honey. Allspice and nutmeg, great mix of flavours.

M: Full-bodied, rich, creamy, elegant soft carbonation.

O: This is a very well made Christmas beer, a lot better than most that I taste coming out of Belgium. Little Noel in January, I liked this quite a bit. (482 characters)
