I was a little uncertain about how I would feel visiting the Pig for the first time after so many fond memories of The Alchemist brew pub. But as soon as I walked in I felt right at home. The interior has changed a lot, but the great service, beer, and patrons remain. I was impressed with the menu and thought the food complimented the beers well. Great draft selection, including Heady Topper and several Hill Farmstead and Lawson's Finest options. Half pours are available, which I love. If you love the old Alchemist frites, the current fries may dissapoint you, but the house-made sauces taste good on everything. The Pig is popular, so plan on waiting a bit for a table, but the staff is cool about taking your name and letting you walk over to the Blakcback Pub or The Reservoir for a quick drink. I just wish they would take your number too and just call your cell when your table is ready. Just sayin'. Overall, this is a must visit if you're in the area.

What can I say about the Pig that hasn't already been covered?
Small place, but I love the atmosphere. Well-decorated and appointed. Music plays in the background, but it's low enough to easily support conversation.
The quality of the beer is nonpareil. I've been twice, both on a weekend, and Heady Topper was on tap each time. Other VT breweries (HF, Lost Nation, et al) are featured as well. Schlitz seems to be a mainstay. Other US craft breweries make an appearance, as well (Stone, Ommegang, Stillwater, etc.).
Service is not particularly great, but it's not bad, either (at the bar; I can't speak for the tables). The bartenders are very knowledgeable about the local VT breweries, which is awesome.
Selection is not huge, but what they have is fantastic. It's not a small tap lineup, for the record; just not mind-bogglingly large. You will find something you like. My most recent trip, they had several IPAs/DIPAs, a DIPL, multiple sours/wilds, Belgians, at least two stouts, and more. Basically, all your bases were covered.
Food at the Pig is excellent, period. If you enjoy good barbecue (which is about the meat, not the sauce), you will probably not be disappointed. My only compliant is that portions are very, very small, and sides are typically extra. The food was enough at the time, but I found myself hungry again within an hour.
Prices are solid. Again, food portions are small, so the food is too pricey, but beer prices are very solid for the quality, and they offer half-pours of everything, which is absolutely awesome, especially if you're in the mood to try a bunch of beer without breaking the bank (or liver).
I was amazed to find that this establishment is actually quite new. It has the reputation and feel of an old veteran on the scene, and if you visit, you'll undoubtedly feel the same way. Can't recommend it highly enough.

This place looks just like the old Alchemist, before they got flooded out. Kind of a long, narrow room. The bar and high tops are on the right, the dining area is on the left. Lots of wood, a black ceiling.
A huge beer selection. Over twenty beers on tap, and over one hundred bottles. It was difficult to choose. I stayed with the Vermont scene and had HF Citra pale ale and HF Everett (a phenomenal porter). My wife had a couple sour beers.
Not that much on the menu for vegans. If I was a carnivore, there seemed to be plenty of selections with a lot of BBQ. We had a veggie burger made from rice with arugula and a tomato confit, which was excellent.
We ate lunch there on a Saturday, and the place filled up fast. Still, we had excellent service.
Definitely worth a stop.
