What can I say about the Pig that hasn't already been covered?

Small place, but I love the atmosphere. Well-decorated and appointed. Music plays in the background, but it's low enough to easily support conversation.

The quality of the beer is nonpareil. I've been twice, both on a weekend, and Heady Topper was on tap each time. Other VT breweries (HF, Lost Nation, et al) are featured as well. Schlitz seems to be a mainstay. Other US craft breweries make an appearance, as well (Stone, Ommegang, Stillwater, etc.).

Service is not particularly great, but it's not bad, either (at the bar; I can't speak for the tables). The bartenders are very knowledgeable about the local VT breweries, which is awesome.

Selection is not huge, but what they have is fantastic. It's not a small tap lineup, for the record; just not mind-bogglingly large. You will find something you like. My most recent trip, they had several IPAs/DIPAs, a DIPL, multiple sours/wilds, Belgians, at least two stouts, and more. Basically, all your bases were covered.

Food at the Pig is excellent, period. If you enjoy good barbecue (which is about the meat, not the sauce), you will probably not be disappointed. My only compliant is that portions are very, very small, and sides are typically extra. The food was enough at the time, but I found myself hungry again within an hour.

Prices are solid. Again, food portions are small, so the food is too pricey, but beer prices are very solid for the quality, and they offer half-pours of everything, which is absolutely awesome, especially if you're in the mood to try a bunch of beer without breaking the bank (or liver).

I was amazed to find that this establishment is actually quite new. It has the reputation and feel of an old veteran on the scene, and if you visit, you'll undoubtedly feel the same way. Can't recommend it highly enough.

A must stop when in VT on a beercation - which I usually take twice a year. Within walking distance of several other great craft beer bars as well as the craft beer cellar. Superb BBQ - the sides are excellent as well. Amazing beer list with many options as well as their own brews - which are very tasty. I highly recommend their Vanilla Porter. Stop, grab a bite and a brew, then walk around to the other side - fill some crowlers to take home. I'm headed up next week and you can be sure I will spend some time here and across the street at the Blackback pub.

I've visited Pro Pig numerous times in my life living in Vermont, and have always enjoyed myself. I mainly go for the cocktails at this point, because A. They are amazing, and B. The selection of booze is absurd. The draft list has seemed to really shift towards featuring their in-house brews, which is totally understandable. They make a pretty decent beer, some are outstanding. However, sometimes you just want some other local Vermont beers. I feel like this review may sound harsh, but it is certainly not intended that way. This bar is superb. The selection is on point. It has turned into a destination spot for tourists and VT'ers alike, and for good reason!

Having been all around town looking for the best spot to grab a beer I would say the Pro Pig is my number one stop. It is a smaller venue so if you want to eat you have to get there early. The food is fantastic and they also have vegetarian and gluten free options along with some nice cuts of meat. The draft list is always packed with local favourites and they have a few lines with their own brews. The brewery is just out back and you can walk in and grab some growlers/crowlers.

Stopped in on Friday afternoon on the way up to Stowe, and after a visit to the Craft Beer Cellar across the street. Decent lunch crowd, looked like a wait for tables and the space is a cool old renovated building. Sat down at the bar and had great service from the bartenders. Tried both Sip of Sunshine on tap and Heady as well as some of the Pro Pig brews, a nice local selection....and 60s Schlitz. Ordered some apps which were delish. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.
