Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a beer taster (4 ounces).
Appearance: Pours a golden color with mild carbonation. Head fades quickly but leaves moderate lacing as it recedes. Not a lot to say here.
Smell: A very "round" scent...definitely reminiscent of a witbier, with that familiar citrus-type nose. However, it's not a sharp citrus, but more of a gentle mix with the wheaty malt. More bready than anything.
Taste/Mouthfeel: Starts out kinda bland. Hops become noticeable quickly. Very chewy in the middle, with good citrus accents. Foams right up until swallow. Aftertaste is a shocking sort of pungent grapefruit bitterness. Not bad, but not as good as I remember it.
Overall: Eh. Bell's makes a LOT of better brews...it's odd that this one enjoys such tremendous accolades in the summertime --- at least, it's odd to me. Oh well, not a bad buy, anyway.
