Although this is not a bad beer in any way, shape, or form, it has been deified locally, much like Fat Tire or other "flagship" brews from microbreweries. And like most of those beers, they are not the best offerings from their respective breweries.
Oberon is a very good beer, but not the great that a lot of locals believe it is. A good beer that you will never turn down, but you also might not ever seek out.

A -pours a cloudy straw color with bright whit one finger head, loose bubbles. Appears lively thoughout and left a little lacing.
S - very subdued aroma of balanced malt and hops. Little bit of citrusy pine hop but only faint, melds right into a nice fresh barley malt aroma. Little bit of a fruity yeast character towards the end.
T - very balanced taste to match the nose. There is ample Bittering hops but only slight flavor hop notes of grass and lemon, nice mellow malt character throughout. Ends bitter and dry. Fruity Esthery character in the nose did not come through in the taste.. The taste is similar to a pilsner but with a little more malt forward.
M - mouth feel is a little chewy from the wheat, ample carbonation though to set it off a little. Finishes nice and dry.
O - I was glad to get this on a trip to Virginia, wanted something not distributed to Maine but easy drinking and the wife might like. This was spot on, nice crisp pilsner esque flavor profile thats a little maltier with a meaty body from the wheat, departure from the bombardment of fruity wheat beers common in these parts in summer, not knocking my socks off by any means, but a solid brew nonetheless.
