Batch 10251, bottled March 4th, 2011. Well, that kind of sucks since I just bought this a few days ago and was hoping to get it a little fresher. I figured Oberon would have a pretty quick turnover in stores...guess not.
Poured into a weizen glass.
A - Pours a hazy golden color with about a half finger of white head. Rather quick fading of the head, leaving behind no lacing. Visible bubble carbonation.
S - The nose is predominantly wheaty/grainy with a light fruitiness. Pretty basic.
T - More flavorful than the smell would suggest. Crisp, moderate bitterness up front with pale malt and wheat characteristics. Subtle spicy hops and again a light fruitiness. The finish is somewhat chalky. A bit of an orange-peel tastes lingers in the aftertaste.
M - Smooth and creamy high-medium mouthfeel. Pretty high carbonation. Above average.
O - Overall, this beer is good for what it is. It's an easy-drinking summer beer for those hot days. Probably won't always be my first choice, but it's definitely one I can see myself returning to.
