Appearance: Poured a very dark, dare I say...opaqe inky black color. Immense brown sugar head that persisted nicely and distinctly laces the glass. Wonderful.
Smell: The requisite "stout" odors abound: dark roasted coffee, nutty, chocolate. Nothing overpowers the senses, though.
Taste: Chocolately and malty sweet up front. Nutty flavor on the tail end. However, a sour flavor at the very end puts a damper on the taste for me.
Mouthfeel: Fairly smooth and creamy. Certainly thinner than I expected, knocking it down a 1/2 point or so.
Drinkability: Not too much for me to rave about. The slight sour aftertaste was a turnoff. Perhaps I missed something, but I just wasn't that impressed.
