Thanks goes out to dhchatfield and paulthebeerguru for sending me some bottles in trades. This was Batch #8311, bottled on 2/7/08.
Beer poured an inky black color with a one-finger, toffee colored head. Very slow, soft carbonation and excellent lacing around the glass.
Aroma was coffee, licorice, roasted malt, molasses and light hops.
Taste was bitter chocolate, roasted grains, burnt coffee and toffee. Big thick mouthfeel with a long, bitter finish.
Fantastic RIS and definitely a sipper. This would be excellent at cellar temperature and a good candidate for aging.
