I was excited to find this on the shelves while I was visiting Minnesota, but though it is a tremendous DIPA, I'm not sure it's quite worth the hoopla. (Though I would still recommend tracking it down and trying it, if you can!)
It's plenty hoppy, but creates a good balance between bitter and sweet. A mouth full of citrus with some grapefruit and orange (unlike some previous reviewers, I didn't feel the grapefruit was overwhelmingly strong), the beer doesn't do a very good job of hiding the alcohol. I wouldn't call this a complex beer, but what is there is done really well. This beer is all about the hops, which is good since Bell's made some nice choices with their hop selection.
I really enjoyed this beer, and though it didn't blow my mind, it certainly could fight for a rank among the top 15 or so DIPAs on the market. Give it a try if you can.
