Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a pint glass.
Appearance: Deep reddish-brown color. The one finger head evaporated rapidly, leaving no lacing on the glass. After about a minute, there was just the slightest ring of foam around the edge of the beer.
Smell: Raisin toast with butter.
Taste: Baker's chocolate followed by a mild bitterness. Very well balanced with the maltiness, bitterness, and alcohol in equal measure.
Mouthfeel: Smooth, moderate carbonation.
Drinkability: Very drinkable because of the balance of flavors. The alcohol is not very high, but Newcastle drinkers will be surprised by it. This could easily be a session beer.
Serving type: bottle
