Served in a pint glass at Mellow Mushroom in Charlottesville. From notes. Reviewed 9 July 2011.

A: Thin, mocha head fades fast. Very black. Dense and so opaque. Placid.

S: Big-sweet roasted malts. Vanilla beans. Hint of coffee.

T: Great stout! Rich, sweet, smooth, and strong. This is a keeper. The aftertaste is *almost* bitter. Substantial and creamy. A tad of sharpish carbonation staves off heaviness. This is the epitome of an oatmeal stout.

O: Bell's does it again! This is a resounding success. Not hugely drinkable, but very tasty. Would have again.

Served at RFD Washington for a Bell's Beer Dinner. This was the first pairing of the night, served with a beef and stout stew.

A: Black pour with a finger or so of light brown head. Lacing and retention are both pretty nice. 4

S: Chocolate, grains, oatmeal, pretty sweet overall. 4

T: Pairs nicely with the beef stew, which I’m pretty sure was made with this stout. The oats, chocolate, and overall sweetness pair well with the spicy stew. 4

MF: Medium body for a stout, low carbonation. Very high drinkability when paired with the food. It goes down really easily. 4

O: Great pairing. Loved the beer, the food only enhanced it. 4
