A - Body is deepest brown, almost black. Just some slight brown highlights around the edge of the glass. A 1/2 finger of light tan foam forms on top and fades over the course of a few minutes. No lacing.
S - Dark roast coffee. Slightly earthy, bready and just a touch of bright citrus notes that you might detect in a lighter roasted coffee.
T - Quite smooth up front. The coffee doesn't grab you right away--which is a good thing. I've had coffee stouts that were way to heavy on the coffee (a homebrew of mine included in the bunch). Lots of smooth, bitter cocoa notes and earthy coffee through the middle. Finish has a nice bit of tang on the sides of the tongue--very reminiscent of a fresh cup of coffee. The coffee and milk chocolate flavors of the roasted malts linger for quite a long time.
M - Thin body. I'm disappointed this doesn't have a bit more substantial mouthfeel to it. Carbonation is understated but adequate.
