Poured from a bottled into a clean tulip.
Pours nice and dark like a good heavy porter. Has an interesting nose as I smell malts and sugar sweetness.
Very interesting and complex beverage. First flavors of dark fruit (dates, raisin) and some candy sugar typical of a Belgian dubbel then give way to malt sweetness and dryness. The sugar sweetness carries over with subsequent sips to form an interesting interplay with the malts. Delicious to drink with lurking fruit flavors. Not too heavy that you feel like you only have room for one.
I like this. It reminds me of a Belgian porter, not being too malty to cause a flavor disparity as with belgian style stouts.
