A: Quite dark, looks like a stout. A small, but frothy mocha head emits from the beer, and slowly fizzles away like most belgiums tend to do and leaves a ring around the glass. Does not lace the glass at all.
S: A blend of american stout with blegium yeast and phenolics. Roasted malt, belgium yeast, fig, raisin. Smells sweet.
T: I get quite a bit of dark fruits. Chocolate cherries, figs, raisins. A slight bit of roast, I'd say it was more prevalent in the aroma. Quite sweet, would make a good dessert beer. Slight alcohol when it warms.
M: Light-medium. The carbonation is medium-high, ever so slightly prickly that slightly interrupts the smooth character that this beer possesses. It dries your mouth out, but after a while leaves a sticky, sugary coating all over.
This beer was good, but not mind blowing. It tasted like an american interpretation of the style, and to be honest, the americans haven't quite got ahold of it yet.
