Pours a deep opaque brown with a half finger tan head that dissipated quickly in to a thin ring around the glass. I wanted just a little bit more head, especially for the fairly hard pour.
Nose is dark chocolate and caramel malt with some roasted notes in the background. Some slight vanilla hints blend in well, overall it is very nice.
The front of the tongue is sweet milk chocolate and some very light roasted (coffee). There is an off taste at the back of the tongue, a weird alcoholic bitter that doesn't match the flavor profile at all. Long dark chocolate finish. Would rate the taste higher if it weren't for that one off note but it really does kind of ruin what could be a really nice flow from sweet to bitter as it goes through the palate.
Medium bodied mouthfeel with some carbonation but not a whole lot.
That off bitter flavor is the only thing that bothers me, otherwise this would be very drinkable.
