Notes/Commercial Description:
Double Cream Stout derives its name from its smooth, creamy texture, not the ingredients. Completely dairy-free, this stout blends ten different specialty malts to yield a remarkable depth of flavor. With only a touch of burnt notes, Double Cream Stout focuses on the softer, cocoa & espresso-like aspects of roasted malt.

A - Jet back with a thick tan head. Lacing is average.

S - Strong chocolate and coffee on the nose. Some extra notes of vanilla.

T - Coffee upfront followed by all the things found in the nose. Compact and full bodied, and enjoyable experience.

M - Rich, thick and creamy. This is a prime example of how the cream stout should be made. More carbonation than I am used to for a stout, but I like it.

O - This is a fantastic hit from Bells that I have had on a number of occasion but just now am getting around to reviewing, For those who love creamy, full bodied brews, look no further. Robust and contains the balance of some of the best.

A-Black two finger light tan head that leavs some lacing.

S-Coffee, roasted malt, chocolate and some vanilla.

T-Coffee, roasted malt, chocolate, tad of vanilla decent bitterness.

O-I think this is better than Kalamazoo, should have them side by side in the future. A tad more vanilla and this beer would be a lot better.

Bottle into snifter. Bottled 01/04/2012

A- Totally opaque brown pour with a two finger light tan head. Lacing is decent after the head collapses to a thin cap.

S- Medium roasted coffee with bittersweet chocolate. There is a touch of oak, vanilla licorice and peanuts (peanut smell sort of reminds of of Shorts Uber Goober)

T- Roasted coffee, slight leather and tobacco. Peanut flavor again with a brown sugar sweetness and a slightly bitter finish.

M- Full bodied and creamy.

O- I was honestly expecting a milk stout until I read the description. This really is a stellar beer though, the peanut taste I was getting was much better than my experience with the Uber Goober lol.

This beer pours a very dark brown with a one finger tan head and heavy, nice lacing to the end. It's aroma is complex leading off with wood with nuts, chocolate and a hint of vanilla. The flavor is a superb blend of wood, coffee, and dark chocolate followed by milk chocolate and anise in the finish. The mouthfeel is full, creamy, and smooth. Bells Special Double Cream Stout is an outstanding brew, well balanced and very complex. Very highly recommended!!

A - Pretty damn dark, big surprise. Light brown head, not too thick. About a finger. Leaves decent lacing.

S - Heavy on the coffee and roasted character. Definitely getting a tiny bit of chocolate, but this is a coffee and roasted malt forward beer in the nose.

T - Backs up my suspicions. The dominant flavors are coffee and roasted malt, and then chocolate.

M - It's pretty smooth. Not the smoothest stout I've had, but it's not bad. Pretty drinkable. No hint of the abv.

O - This is a solid entry at a lower level abv stout. I typically drink imperial stouts, but I figured I'd give this a shot based on what they have on tap where I am. I don't regret my decision, unlike my first beer, Oberon.

Poured into bells pint glass

A-pours a dark black. Cant see any light through even when held up to the light. Small 1 finger head that falls into a nice mocha brown layer on the top.

S-I'm getting sort of a sweet oatmeal scent with a hint of roasted coffee. Smells pretty good. Maybe a hint of vanilla somewhere as well.

T-Interesting. I;m getting quite a mixture of flavors here, taste buds seem a bit confused, in a good way. Some sweetness, oatmeal, a bit of coffee, and something else I can't quite put my finger on.

MF-Very smooth. Medium to heavy body for the style. Definitely getting some carbonation, maybe a tad to much but nothing to complain about.

O-this is a pretty good beer. I have recently decided to raise my standards for a 4, and this I think still gets one across the board. Very nice blend of all the malts.

Pours dark black with tiny light brown head. Aroma is very roasty with lots vanilla, lactose, and chocolate. Taste is a nice balance of roasted coffee, toffee and chocolate, solid sweetness from the lactose. Full bodied but not syrupy. Good carbonation to keep the sweetness in check. This one is really good. No wonder they mix this in for some Black Note.
