Notes & Commercial Description:
Beer added by: Mitchster on 12-30-2001

Double Cream Stout derives its name from its smooth, creamy texture, not the ingredients. Completely dairy-free, this stout blends ten different specialty malts to yield a remarkable depth of flavor. With only a touch of burnt notes, Double Cream Stout focuses on the softer, cocoa & espresso-like aspects of roasted malt.

Brown 12oz glass bottle, pry-off cap and a tan label shows a tangled tree limb.
Opaque maple body, a brown creamy head with medium to large bubbles. Great retention and lace.
Amazing bitter sweet chocolate bean scent, coffee and dark dark molasses. The hops are well represented as well with a dry kick of spice.
The flavor is strong and full, semisweet chocolate bean, more molasses, some brown sugar, nut skin hoppiness and anise. The aftertaste is more of the same. Lingers well with full strenght and great duration.
Chewy body, residual sugars, lots of coating, just great.
Very drinkable, this is going to be a regular Bell's in my fridge next to the Kalamazoo.

I really can't add to the other A+ reviews other than to say this:

I have something of a "sweet-tooth", so this brew is right in my wheelhouse.

Don't misunderstand - The sweetness isn't cloying, or obtrusive. It's in perfect harmony with the hops and alcohol that sneak in and remind you that you are, indeed, drinking a beer.

I can see pouring this over some great vanilla ice-cream as a socko dessert to surprise your dinner guests.

Simply one of the most delicious beverages I've ever tasted.
