Thanks again to CRJMellor for another Bell brew.
Light copper in color, quite clear and produces less than 1/2 finger of bright white head...disappears rapidly with decent lacing.
Spicy burn in the nose...bananas, clove and corriandor.
The taste is more mellow that I was expecting with all of the scents above making its way into the flavor plus a nice wheat base.
Alcohol is not up front but does show up in the finish...could be a bit sweeter but I like the bitter quality this one ends with.
Mouthfeel is thin for the style and some of the flavors linger a bit too long.
Pretty easy drinking, but I'd opt for others in the style.

Appearance: golden, slight orangey color; hazy; lots of bubbles; thick, pillowy, white head that goes absolutely nowhere

Aroma: sweet; lemony citrus; banana; a little buttery; wheaty

Taste: starts with a little lemon kick and some sticky, cloying sweetness; then the wheat takes center stage; some banana notes; finishes with a revisit of lemon, very subtle hop flavors, and a strong wheat profile; aftertaste is wheaty, lemony, and cloying

Mouthfeel: medium-bodied; sticky; prickly carbonation

Overall Impression: it’s ok…not great, not bad, just ok; I’d drink another, but certainly won’t go out of my way for it

"Brewed to satisfy our curious natures and your thirst for interesting beer, the Wheat series is a journey through unique taste sensations." Brewed in the style of a Wheatwine, available in 12 oz. bottled 6 packs and on limited draft. Most recently brewed in the fall of 2013.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle to a Bell's Snifter glass. Served above 58 degrees Fahrenheit.

(Appearance) Pours a fizzy frothed head of a pearl white color over a mildly hazy golden amber body with light sediment in tow and ample, lively carbonation. Retention is average at best, lacing is light and spotty. 3.25

(Smell) Sweet unmalted wheat body with a moderate sweetness, pale and caramel syrup malts, effervescent pepper spices of white peppercorns and coriander seed. Delicate fruit and yeast profiles, pear and cider with a moderate alcohol presence. Light hop bitterness and limited hop flavor for this malt-led ale. Potency is moderate. 3.75

(Taste) Wheat malt base with a caramel grain body, light fruit tartness, spicy coriander and peppercorns, finishing lightly grainy with a reserved sweetness. 3.75

(Mouthfeel) Texture is slick, lightly oily and moderately dry. Carbonation is moderate, generating a light frothiness and a briskly crisp finish. Body is medium for the style, medium+ overall. Balance is slightly grainy and spicy over sweet. Alcohol presence is mild and there are no off characters. 3.5

(Overall) Wheat Love is a very enjoyable Wheatwine, just a touch bolder and stronger than Belgian-inspired wheat ales with a bold, effervescent spiciness and a smoother, more profound malt body. Alcohol is well concealed and the balance is nearly ideal. I can understand the demand to bring this beer back and hope that Bell's brews this beer again sometime soon. 3.75
