Light shade of orange with a decent white head, nice appearance is offset by weird aroma. The malts combine for a ketchup-like smell. Flavor is a satisfying toasty biscuit malt, with a little more bitterness than many in the category. Just enough hops to give some balance. Mouthfeel is appropriate, medium bodied with a good amount of carbonation.
Aroma was down-right bad. I've gone through a 6 pack and keep getting this same nasty salty vegetable smell. Past experiences with this beer didn't leave me with high expectations, but again, I gave into the pull of Octoberfest. It's drinkable but falls short of the typical Bell's quality.
