i got bottles of this from nlmartin and JeffKrenner as part of BC2, and another two in a trade with vwcraig. thanks guys!

12oz bottle.

pours orangey amber with a small dense white head. my glass had a bit of haze that i stirred up when pouring the bottom of the bottle. the head didn't last long and left a bit of spotty lace.

aroma is nice. honey and caramel sweetness. tangerine and apricot. slightly floral. alcohol. crackers. a bit of grain.

taste is good. honey and caramel sweetness again. light non-specific spice. bit of tangerine. light floral. alcohol. cracker malt. bit of grain again.

mouthfeel is nice. medium body with a fairly dry finish. medium carbonation level.

drinkability is good. balanced and fairly enjoyable. just a little more simple and straightforward than i expected. i was definitely wowed by batch 7000, and feel the 8000 is just a little bit "meh" - good, but not quite as great as i expected.

A fully aged one for tonight from the doomsday beer closet
from the 12 oz bottle in a snifter. Pours a burnt auburn
color mingled with lightly murky brown and a decent head of
off white foam that settles to a thick ring. Nose of moderate spice,
orange zest, and grain notes with some dark fruit elements (from age perhaps).
Flavors lightly pass the nose showing little to no oxidation which is a shocker to
me with orange zest, coriander, and mild Belgian spices with light breaded notes
on the middle and rear. Decent mouth feel; medium body, low carbonation, and a
lightly warming and subtly sweet herbal finish.

Overall, a decent lurker from the doomsday closet.

Cheers
