Could not wait to pick this one this up after last years offering (Bells Batch 7000). Picked up a 6 pack of 12oz bottles.
A - Pours out a nice copper pale hue that was rather dark for the intended style. Where is the haziness I've come to expect from this style? White head with mild lacing. A nice pour overall.
S - In my opinion the most enjoyable part of thsi beer. A spicy peppery tangy scent with dark licorice in the back. Mild citrus is noticable but fades as this beer finishes into a more alcohol domainated scent.
T - A full-bodied wheat flavor right of the bat. Belgian yeast is noticable in the back. Other flavors of orange peel, spicy fruit rind and coriander, and grain. As the beer finishes the alcohol warms and develops new flavors of dark licorice.
M - The beers mouthfeel is medium but develops a stronger kick as the alcohol warms within the beer. The carbonation level is mild and the alcohol evetually dominates the mouthfeel of the beer.
D - This beer was a decent offering but did stand up to last years batch 7000. With said (given they are two entirely different styles) I found this beer to be a bold unique witbeer. But probably not anything I will crave in the years to follow.
