This brew pours a beautiful brownish/red color with a white, fluffy two finger head and good carbonation.

The smell is sweet malts and floral hops. There are also some fruits and nuts in the smell along with a dank earthy smell contrasting with a sweet wheat like smell.

The taste follows the nose with sweet malts hitting first then floral, spicy hops. There is also a nutty taste followed by light caramel and ending with hop spices.

Overall this is a complex brew with a lot going on. This would be a good beer for a cold day but the low alcohol content keeps it out of the 'winter warmer' class.

look: 4 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 3.5 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 3.5

Appearance - A reddish/burnt orange/copper color with a very large soapy, off white head that stayed around for a bit and has sufficient lacing. The beer is mostly clear with several bubbles rising. The head settled to a nice film on top.

Smell - Faint bit of an earthy malt tone. Some ginger bread aromas. Detecting some nuttiness. Maybe almond. The aromas seem more laid back than I had anticipated.

Taste - The taste provided the ginger again along with some nutmeg spices I thought. A touch of a custard taste.

Mouthfeel - Medium/thin mouthfeel. Mostly smooth and mostly dry. Left suitable flavor on the palate. Would like to have had a fuller mouthfeel with a Christmas themed brew.

Drinkability - This beer is alright. Wouldn't be my first choice for a Winter/Christmas brew, but ok none the less. It's easily drinkable with tame aromas and flavors. I would drink it again if it was offered.

Had out of a bottle at Beer School at Whole Foods in Lakeview in Chicago, IL on 12/16/08.

A: Amber-orange color with a light tan colored head.

S: Smells of citrus, malts and a little bit of hops.

T: Mild sweetness, very slight bitter - again citrus, malts and slight hops flavors - the taste felt very "mild" with not a whole lot of flavor coming through

M: Felt somewhat thin, but had a clean finish

D: High drinkability because it seemed very easy to drink, but takes a hit because the flavors are muted and mild and nothing sticks out as "real tasty"

Color: pours clear, light golden brown. sits clear, slightly dull copper

Smell: low malt sweetness with low diacetyl and spicy hops

Taste: watered down. very balanced malt sweetness and hop flavor. very low diacetyl with next to no bitterness. finish is light with a hint of graininess

Mouthfeel: clean and crisp. low carbonation. medium-light body

Notes: where did the flavor go? im re-reviewing this and is nothing like my notes. sometimes i wonder who is tasting for consistency!

Poured bottle into pint glass.

Appearance: Has a slightly amber color that is fairly cloudy. It had a very small head.

Smell: Has a sweet malt base that is almost reminiscent of a hefeweizen, but not quite. Has a light fruit smell that just teases the nose.

Taste: Strong fruit flavor permeates through the whole drink, but again, there seems to be a bit of wheat in the background. Very smooth finish.

Mouthfeel: Has a fair body considering the apparent low carbonation. It feels mildly thicker than water on the tongue.

Drinkability: Quite good. Something I could drink any time of the year, not just Christmas time.
