Notes/Commercial Description:
Sour mash wheat ale.

"Designed as a flavorful session beer, Oarsman Ale uses a classic German brewing technique to impart a light, refreshing tartness. Oarsman Ale grew out of a desire to explore the tradition of session beers, trading intensity for finesse while still creating a worthwhile experience for the taster. The grain bill includes a healthy portion of wheat, while light hopping lend citrus & herbal notes to the aroma. Fermented with Bell's house ale yeast, Oarsman comes in at 4.0% alcohol by volume. Rather than being the dominant flavor note, the tartness in Oarsman takes on more of a palate-cleansing role, making it perfect with meals or purely on its own."

beer just looks tart, has that light straw color that makes you assume it's going to pucker. hope it does, well see. Head is dense looking.
The aroma has alot of spiced notes that remind me of a tripel, and grassy notes like a wheat beer, somewhere right in between the two. good stuff as i really enjoy both styles. There is some lemon smells too but not as prominant as i expected.
Alright, here is where the lemon notes come into play, the flavors have a great light clean finish, not super sour or puckering, just really clean and crisp, really awesome. i'm really impressed with this beer, this is an awesome beer for $10 6-packs. This summer i'm going to buy a case do doubt. I could probally go through it in a week without trying.

Personally I think this beer is underrated across the board. It is a pretty nice beer from Bell ' s, fruity and fairly light. It is a very drinkable beer in my opinion, would drink a few on a hot day. It is not my favorite beer, but with a decent aroma and solid refreshing taste, it deserves better than the moderate rating.

Overall, I'll definitely enjoy this brew again. Good for a spring/summer brew and can have a few with its light abv
