12oz. bottle served into a tulip glass
Pours an ultra-pale straw yellow color. Like, paler than Michelob Ultra. We're talking Miller 64 (formerly Miller Genuine Draft 64) levels of paleness. A wisp of bright white head forms but doesn't stick around for very long. This beer looks like a Jim Gaffigan DVD.
Oarsman smells like a big ol' pile of wheat and breakfast cereal. There's a trace sharpness -- citrus, but also inseparable from the wheat. It smells like a supermarket lemon pie, basically. It doesn't so much smell like a true Berliner Weisse as it does an American Pale Wheat Ale that has some tartness to it.
This is an average Berliner Weisse. Or, it's below average, but I'm scoring it a 3.0 because it's really refreshing. What a nice summer beer option! It's very, very, very light. A light wheat beer flavor. The yeast isn't doing a damn thing here. There's some bacterial sourness, especially on the finish, but it isn't so much a part of the flavor profile as it is a thing that compels you to drink more of it.
The mouthfeel is light, as you'd expect, with a medium amount of carbonation. It's meant for quaffing, and it does the trick. Overall, this is an average at best Berliner Wiesse. But it's a refreshing beer that I'd never turn down. This would be a superb pairing with pizza.

Personally I think this beer is underrated across the board. It is a pretty nice beer from Bell ' s, fruity and fairly light. It is a very drinkable beer in my opinion, would drink a few on a hot day. It is not my favorite beer, but with a decent aroma and solid refreshing taste, it deserves better than the moderate rating.
Overall, I'll definitely enjoy this brew again. Good for a spring/summer brew and can have a few with its light abv
