massive thanks to semibaked for hooking me up with this one. poured into a Kuhnhenn snifter - also thanks to semibaked!
pours a brilliant golden apple-cider hue, crystal clear, with a two-plus-finger head that has stunning retention and leaves even more stunning whispy thick lace all the way down the glass.
aroma is distinctly IPA in nature. rich caramel malt intermingles with intensely tropical hops. pineapple, papaya, hibiscus. floral, sweet, fruity. smells solid.
taste follows... bitter piney floral hoppy booziness. intense. delicious. smooth and luscious with an intense hop kick. some cracker and bread underneath, but this one is all hops.
mouth is full, with a pleasant thickness that isn't quite slick, but gives nice body and helps the lingering slickness be pleasant.
wow. this is one impressive beast. pretty much sets the bar for double IPAs... stunning. I'm not a die-hard double IPA fan, but I know a good one when I try one. and this one is amazing.
