I enjoyed this beer from the comfort of my own living room. From the 12oz bottle with the cool code "9000" stamped on the label to a snifter.
Appearance: Pours a very dark brown color with a tiny tan head that only lasts a few seconds.
Smell: From the snifter the alcohol burns my nose after too many deep inhalations. Before that set in, I picked up black licorice, a hint of malt and piney hops.
Taste: Spicy black licorice, but the sweet caramel dominates for me. The finish is rather bitter and the alcohol lingers for some time.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied and syrupy. Not much carbonation.
Drinkability: 2 of these would be enough for me. I bought 2 and this is my last one, so not a problem. I drank the first on Easter. Not sure it fits the style listed here, but I don't think this is supposed to be placed into one style. Makes me wish I had one more to sit on for awhile.
