Had on-tap at Bell's Eccentric Cafe.
This is described as a "German Golden Ale", but that style isn't available to choose from on this site. I got this as a part of my paddle after seeing it on draft and having never heard of it before. Like most adjunct lagers, this beer has no head or lacing whatsoever. Deep, golden yellow color. It's crystal clear. Taking a smell, it smells like an adjunct lager... I'm not sure if this is supposed to be, but it just smelled of corn, and tasted of it as well. The taste, as mentioned, is a lot of corniness. There is even a bit of a lime (?) note, which makes me liken this beer to an improved Dos Equis.
Is this supposed to taste like an adjunct? I'm not sure, but the consensus at my table was that it tasted like one. Is it bad? No, not if you don't *hate* corn flavors in your beer. I wasn't expecting this, but I turned out to enjoy it for what I [think] it is.
An upgraded Dos Equis.
Serving type: on-tap
