Served cool from 330ml bottle into my new Saison Regal glass. My first Belgian Saison - half excited, half worried!!! Lets give him a fair go.
A) First point is the massive white head. Persistent. Very murky deep amber colour. Looks quite fizzy. Chunks of grey yeast in the bottom. Errr.....rustic.
S) A bit boring, to be honest. Smells a bit like a bottle of lager that has been left in the sun for a day.
T) Not bad, a bit like a hefeweizen without the clove flavours. Neither hops nor malt dominates. Weirdly balanced. Quite a nice marmalade-type aftertaste.
M) Fizzy. Dense enough to deter chugging. The aftertaste makes you savour the flavour. Noticeably different from other beers I have had.
O) My first Belgian saison. I enjoyed it and will try some more.

Pours an emissive apricot orange with thin soapy white head. Floater city. Smell: peach tea, oregano note, sweet orange peel, pepper. Taste: dried apricot, bready and sweet with a mild snappiness, earthy and herbal, with orange citrus candy before the finish. Medium bodied, somewhat syrupy feel upfront with growing carbonation helping it "dry" out, finishing sticky, earthy and herbal. Interesting take, enjoyable though a little sweet.
