12/20/13 From bottle. Greeted with a bit of manageable exuberance, in the form of foam, when I opened the bottle. Big full aroma backed by a mouthful of lively citrus and a hint of spice and medium body. But, as we know, first impressions are not always fulfilled. All the outward signs were there, but it just lacked a bit of soul. I'm interested enough to try it on tap to see if that may be the difference.

Pour is very hazed deep amber with a tight white head. Nose is quite nice, lots of spice to it, peppery, pronounced dustiness to it, notes of lemon and a bit of perfume. Taste is similar, gets a bit sweet. Dustiness is less forward and spice isn't quite as strong. Notes of candied sugar, light perfume. Lighter body, well carbonated, crisp finish.

33cl Bottle: BBD 12th Aug 15, poured into a Duvel glass @ home on 5th Dec 13.

Almost clear golden colour with a good head, could almost have been a Duvel in the glass.

The aroma however told you it wasn't a Duvel: this had a grainy and mild citrus note in the smell, along with some yeast esters.

The taste was also a mixture of flavours, again grainy, citrusy and yeasty: crisp, sharp and leaning towards tart with a dry bitter finish.

Nice brew.
