A: Pours a very hazy very dark reddish brown in color with light to moderate amounts of active visible carbonation along the edges of the glass, significant amounts of large particulates in suspension, and some amber highlights. The beer has a finger tall foamy beige head that reduces to a medium sized thick patch of medium bubbles surrounded by a very thin film covering the majority of the remainder of the surface of the beer and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Light amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate to strong aromas of caramel and toffee malt sweetness with moderate notes of brown sugar and dark fruit (raisins). Light aromas of spices (cinnamon and clove).

T: Upfront there is a moderate flavor of slightly sweet caramel and toffee malts with a moderate presence of brown sugar. There is a moderate presence of dark fruits (raisins) and moderate amounts of spices (cinnamon, clove, and allspice). Light amounts of bitterness in the finish which does not linger for long.

M: Slightly heavier than medium bodied with heavy amounts of carbonation. Slightly prickly on the tongue.

O: Really nice holiday spice flavors really complement the dark fruit flavors of the BSDA. Very easy to drink but it is obvious this is a big beer and quite enjoyable. Best sipped slowly and would probably be great while sitting by the fireplace on Christmas Eve while waiting for the fat man to come visit.

A: The beer is hazy and very dark brown in color. It poured with a quarter finger high off white head. It is hard to see through, but it appears that particulates of yeast are floating near the bottom of the glass. The head died down, but left a thin layer of bubbles that mostly covered the surface and left a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of dark fruits and clumped Yeast are present in the nose.
T: Just like the smell, the taste has flavors of yeast and dark fruits along with some hints of malty sweetness.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate anud has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer has lots of yeast in the taste, but also has nice amounts of dark fruits in the smell and the taste. No alcohol is perceptible.

750 ml bottle into signature chalice; 9/2007 date on the cork. Pours very hazy dark reddish brown color with a 1 finger fairly dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of raisin, prune, fig, caramel, toast, toffee, brown sugar, brown bread, molasses, clove, light chocolate, herbal, and toast/yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good complexity and balance of dark/bready malt and fruity/earthy yeast ester flavors; with good strength. Taste of big raisin, prune, fig, caramel, toast, toffee, brown sugar, brown bread, molasses, light chocolate, clove, herbal, floral, and toast/yeast earthiness. Lingering notes of raisin, prune, fig, caramel, toast, toffee, brown sugar, brown bread, molasses, light chocolate, herbal, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity and big robustness of dark/bready malt and fruity/earthy yeast flavors; with a great malt/yeast ester flavor balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a smooth and moderately creamy/slick mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent Belgian strong dark ale. All around great balance and complexity of dark/bready malt and fruity/earthy yeast ester flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Surprisingly pale cherry amber with egg challah-yellow foam head that rims like mad.
Baked apple, spice, petrol, and ginger cake nose - deep.
Fruitcake malts, some poached pear esters, mild yeast spice, and grassy hops to end.
Cola finish and cherry stone linger.
Medium, round, smooth, chewy.

Shows lighter than expected, but nothing missing as far as flavor. Solid all arounder. No burn, yeast is under-, fruit and cake both - can't fault is as last beer of Christmas night.

Beautiful amber color; luscious head.
Slightly alcholic on the nose. Pleasant mouthfeel.

Overall, a very good beer but nothing that stands out and says "pick me!".

I'm going to put a bottle down and try it next year, then I'll re-review.

Aroma: Phenolic, spicy aroma.
Appearance: Amber color, head is huge.
Flavor: Sweet. Spicy flavor is dominant. Sweet finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-full body and alcoholic character. A little bit hot.
Overall: Sweet spicy Belgian ale. Too sweetness destroys total balance.
