Poured from a 33cl bottle into a tulip.

Pours a beautiful yellowish hazy color with a kiss of orange and honey colors in it. Really nice looking 3 finger fluffy perfect white eggshell head with huge carbonation that flows to the top of the beer. The head retention is superb. Really pillowing like peaks on this beer as the head slowly dissipates. Lacing down the side of the class is moderate but thick where it is sticking. The aromas are very interesting. Fruity belgian yeasty notes come out for sure. There is also a nice white grape component, almost like an aged white wine. Sour apples on the forefront then white or green grape sweetness on the middle of the nose. Smells extremely refreshing and sophisticated. Taste for me is ok. There are some really complex flavors going on here for sure, but alcohol dryness and bite is getting to me too much here. I get some nice over ripe apricots, lemon pith, dry astringency, and a touch of honeysuckle notes in the very beginning. Finishes extremely dry, so dry my mouth is tingling. Really impressive on the complexity, but the over dryness and the alcohol is coming through too much. I think this beer could use just a touch more sweetness to level out the dryness and boozy characters. The mouthfeel is just want i want from this style, over the top carbonation, light fluffy bubbles rushing the palate, cleansing and delivering a dry acidic punch. Overall this is really nice, and I would love to age this for sure to mellow out the boozy character. I think the complexity is what really makes this beer both on the nose and on the palate. very interesting and great with cheese as a pairing for sure. However, after having this beer and comparing it to Duvel, they are two different animals. Duvel is much smoother, maybe a touch more carbonated, but the booze is hidden in Duvel much better. Its worth a shot especially if you can get your hands on some.

Cheers

This is the same as the blonde. It smells like alcohol, it tastes like alcohol and not much else. No liquid bread feeling, no fruits or spices. Pours into a chalice. Some head that dissipates. Low carbonation. Looks between golden yellow and orange whiskey, see through. It has a tiny aroma of pears. It taste like hard liquor, bitter, cough syrup not in a good way. At room temp it smells and tastes more like hard liquor. This is not a beer

33cl bottle (17/11/2015) into a flute. Clear straw color, some bubbling, big head with good retention and heavy lacing, leaves a one cm head. Smell is fruity with yeast and spice, slightly tangy. Sweet first taste, followed by a peppery spiciness, finishing with a dry citrusy hop bitterness with pepper. No hint of alcohol. Light body with a light creamy mouthfeel, medium carbonation. Overall a fresh tasting, drinkable beer. Really light feel for a 9,5% beer. Would have again.

You know, I really wish I had better access to Belgian ales that were actually made in Belgium. I hardly drink any compared to what I used to.

Pours somewhat clouded. Thin white head. Tastes quite sweet; very much so, in fact. Though it seems to be less so as the beer warms; or maybe my palate is more used to it. Mild fruits. Touch of hop spices. A nice Belgian ale.
