330 ml bottle into signature chalice, best before 11/21/2013. Pours a slightly hazy golden amber color with a nice 1-2 finger dense and fluffy white head with great retention, that reduces to small cap that lasts. Spotty foamy lacing on the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big lemon zest, apple, pear, pepper, clove, light bread, grass, floral earthiness, and yeast spiciness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity and spicy esters. Taste of big lemon, pear, apple, apricot, pepper, clove, bread, honey, grass, candi sugar, floral, earth, and yeast spiciness. Lingering notes of light fruits, clove, pepper, bread, floral, grass, honey, earth, and yeast spiciness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice balance and complexity of fruity and spicy esters; with zero cloying flavors present after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a fairly slick, crisp, and prickly mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a moderate warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent Belgian strong pale ale. Very nice balance and complexity of fruity and spicy esters; and quite smooth to sip on. A very enjoyable offering.

Poured from the 330ml bottle into a tulip glass.

A: The beer is a light golden color with a good amount of carbonation and a fluffy white head that sticks around a while.

S: More savory and yeasty. Some hops coming though but overall bready.

T: Balanced but with a good contrast between yeast and hop. Bright citrusy hops shining through but a lot of fruity yeast in there as well. Some balancing malt and bread.

Overall a good beer. Wouldn't call it an extraordinary beer for the cost or the name "Grand Cru" but a solid beer. Would grab again if the price was right.

Slightly hazy golden color with a thick two fingers head with great retention and leaving laces.
Aroma with notes of lemon, just a bit of Cointreau, some banana, condiments and bread.
Nice flavor, notes of pineapples, oranges, green apples, faint tea leaves, apricot, Belgian yeast, herbal and floral hops, coriander, cloves, white pepper and sugar cane. Slightly acid with a dry aftertaste. It did remind me of a Tripel.
Medium body with effervescent carbonation. Alcohol of 9.5% abv is there just as a complementing flavor.
Very good Strong Ale, complex, quite rounded and elegant.

Pours a hazed yellow with a fat head of fizzy off white foam that pops noisily and slowly leaving a thin layer of loose bubbles on top. A we sheet of lace falls back into the beer with each sip. The nose is heavenly with a strong yeast funk, a deep fruitiness like sweetened apricot and a bit of pepper and spice. Taste is sparkling. The carbonation sparkles, the fruits glow softly and sweetly and the malt is a touch of light brown sugar. A bit of lemon shows up as the beer warms. There is a mild peppery bite to finish this one off dry and with an aftertaste that is like from a sweet pastry. Right before the swallow the yest imparts a bit of sour or crushed aspirin but it's not too strong or forceful and it really heightens the finish of the beer.

The warmth you feel from drinking this beer is not from alcohol but rather from the baked fruit sweetness and from the complexity in the yeast. This yeast is bit funky, a bit dry, a bit earthy and imparts that sour dough rising smell to the beer that I just love. A bit of wood too and I just did a paragraph on the yeast alone! The fruits and their complexity along with a delicate yet present mouthfeel are the reward to the palate and this beer is an instant favorite.

Appearance - Blown away by the head on this beer. Super, super think and creamy. Close to two fingers and piercingly bright. Very comparable to the head of Duvel or Orval. Bubbles race to the top like there's no tomorrow. For a Golden Pale Ale, this of the nicest beers I've seen in a long, long time.

Smell - Extra citrusy on the nose. Lemon, tang, orange zest, banana and bread. Slightly sour (in a good way), dry and hoppy. Clean and fresh on the nose.

Taste - Extra vanilla compared to most Belgian Pale Ales. Lots of tropical fruits notes, too. These are two very unique features to this beer compared to others in this style. Tropical fruits: mango, banana and pineapple. Also, apple, coriander, vanilla, lemon, cloves, sourdough bread, white bread, more vanilla, pilsner malt, pale malts, clear candi sugar, noble hops and tangy rich fruits.

Mouthfeel - Perfect. High carbonation with so much zap. This brings this beer to life and ties it all together. Lively and dry. Very impressive.

Overall - I will definitely be buying a handful of these. I would love to enjoy two in a row. One 330 ml bottle is just not enough. This is a beautiful beer that stays true to the style, yet stands out with its use of tropical fruit tang, while bolstering plenty of vanilla. A perfectly balanced, dry, hoppy, sugary masterpiece.
