750ml growler filled 8/1/2014, poured into a Lawson's snifter 8/10/2014.

A- Hazy deep orange body, one finger white head with the right amount of retention and rings of lacing. Great lookin' beer.

S- Juicy citrus, grapefruit and sweet bready pale malt. I don't know how this smells so good, but it does. Again this is really dang juicy. I understand where the name comes from now.

F- Somehow, this beer tastes better than it smells. Citrus, oranges, grapefruits, mango, passion fruit, bread and caramel with more oranges and a slightly grassy citrus finish. Really juicy but balanced. Fantastic stuff.

M- Medium bodied, smooth and creamy with a nice peppy carbonation. Phenomenal and very drinkable. Juicy, citrus zesty finish that is bitter but just the right amount of bitter grassiness to keep it interesting without interfering with drinkability.

O- Fantastic IPA. This one is worth its weight in gold... and more. Probably the most enjoyable single IPA I've had the chance to drink. I will have to obtain more of these on a regular basis!

Growler courtesy of Cam....oh man, what a great surprise. Thank you buddy!

Rich orange, big fluff, pillows of lace....wow!

Big waves of citrus...orange, tangerine, nectarine...so damn fruity.

Huge notes of citrus here as well, baby aspirin, some caramel and bready malts for firm yet welcomed support, and a light grassy bitterness that keeps things honest.

Sweet and lightly syrupy but modestly carbonated allows this to feel juicy as well.

So much to like here and just a ridiculous amount of fresh hops and citrus twang with enough malt support and gentle bitters to keep everyone playing nicely. Damn Cam...thank you!

Lots of peach and mango flavored and aromas. Really balanced and absolutely delicious. Not a super hop Bomb but a really nuanced and balanced ipa.

750 mL bottle poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Very hazy orange body. Big white head with nice lacing and a chunky collar.

Smell - Orange hops. Metallic sort of aroma. Some toasty malt.

Taste - Tastes much better. Tropical fruits. Orange. Lightly toasty cracker malt. A bit of sweetness backs it up.

Mouthfeel - Medium body. Kinda creamy. Medium carbonation.

Overall - This is good, but I don't get the crazy high ratings it has. I could definitely drink lots of this and would be happy drinking it all the time, but not sure it's top 50 caliber.

Brilliance in a bottle is an understatement for this highly reviewed IPA. Began the evening with a 750ml bottle from the previous weekend's batch. The color pours into my Hill Farmstead tulip glass a perfect pale golden tone. The smell of orange, grapefruit, and citrus fills the air immediately when opened. Freshly squeezed orange grapefruit juice with the mild bitterness of hop to give it that classic taste. A beautifully crafted IPA and easily one I will go out of my way to try again. Cannot recommend the aesthetic quality of this enough.

S: Bright tropical fruits, heavy mango and orange, grapefruit and passion fruit complementing, some dankness as well.

L: Very cloudy, burnt orange, creamy white head with solid retention and lacing.

T: Ripe, heavy mango up front with a semi-sweet caramal malt complementing. Medium, fruity bitterness leading into some slight dankness. Definitely mango fruit forward throughout. Finishes slightly resiny and dry.

M: Medium low carbonation, very smooth and clean. Medium bodied.

Great IPA, not sure if its worth the 1.5 hr wait, but nice fruitiness and dangerously drinkable. Probably has a bit more bitterness when carbed properly instead of directly out of a growler.

Simply awesome.

Purchased from brewery on 11/9, consumed 11/10.

A-mild carbonation, light orange hues.
S-Fresh cut grass and gasoline. Perfect.
T-Unreal!!! Perfect.
M-bitter, hoppy, crisp.
O-One of the best beers I've ever had. Period.

Similar to Stones Enjoy By series but without the ABV. Now if they would just brew more of it.

Haven't typed out a review in a while, but as this beer is my first 5 Overall, a few words:
As soon as you get it open (I was lucky to try it out of a can) the smell of orange/citrus are pungent throughout the room. In the glass it goes, gorgeous orange color with a frothy white head that fades with time. The taste of this beer follows the nose 100%--its a tropical fruit explosion. One of my favorite parts was the mouthfeel--I wish I could give it a 6. Creamy, perfect amount of carbonation.
This beer is perfection. Trade for this/go to Tree House, just get some. I promise you won't regret it

Bright, hazed orange topped with a low, thick, creamy head. Delightfully pungent hoppy aroma: pineapple, grapefruit, pine resin, earthy greenness, clementines, and a little bit of toasted malt. Huge, sticky, lip-smacking hop flavor with loads of sweet ruby red grapefruit, pine sap, tangerine, and miscellaneous tropical fruits. Medium bodied and bitter, but very smooth and obviously supremely drinkable. Gloriously hoppy and one of the finest beers I had on my vacation home to New England.

Growler shared by drewone - Thanks.

A: Pours a hazy light-orange with an initial quarter-inch thick white head which fades to the rim leaving splotchy lace. (Possibly being biased here with the score due to a growler pour - but that is how it is).

N: Really nice tangerine, orange, and grapefruit present inside the zest. Tropical fruits also in the mix (passion). Floral and fruity. Really nice.

T: Balanced malts and hops. An enjoyable soapy-like quality with the up-front citrus.

M: Moderate body and barely medium carbonation (growler, yes). Not overly bitter or dry finish.

O: Nice with the best being the aroma. Interesting how a lot of east coasters seem to score this high. Not a west coaster style, but still a treat.

Thanks to jtdolla911 for this one. Enjoyed this the night before EBF Session 2.

Poured from a 750ml swingtop growler.

Looks quite nice with an orange-gold body, quite hazy and some drooping lace. Melon, mango and orange are predominant in the aroma. Flavor is very creamy, green hops, bitter but not too much, lush mango and tropical fruit, fleshy orange. Not an in your face IPA but has marked fruit flavors which make it delicious.

Thank you Kunckle Neil

Kinda orange colored? It was getting dark out. Smells like being teabagged by a hop monster. Or motor boating a hop goddess. I prefer that latter but the former seems to convey more "up in it" which is what I'm going for. Dank, dank, dank orange citrus aroma with an accompanying verdant leafy greenness. Tastes like it smells, I'm guessing that Julius is short for Orange Julius. Thick, heavy body laden with hop oil.

We did a comparison with Heady Topper and Julius emerged the victor if that says anything.

A- My second 750ml of this throughout the last week. Poured into two snifters with a slightly hazed apricot amber body. The head is white and foamy, frothy textured rising to about one finger. Decent retention and lacing is a mix of webs, sheets and spots.

S- A lot of melon and juicy cantaloupe bursts out of the growler as soon as it is opened. After some inspection a bushel of juicy tropical and stone fruits rises out of the glass. Mango, tangerine, peach and some citrus as well.

T- Becomes a bit more citrus forward here with a notable zesty bitterness coming to mind. Orange is quite big with a bit of lemon zest in there as well. The fruits from the nose carry over with mango, melon, cantaloupe, peach, apricot and general tropical fruits coating the palate.

MF- Medium bodied with a slightly creamy and frothy consistency. Carbonation still at a high level after a week in the growler. Finishes moderately bitter.

Very juicy fruity in the nose as well as the flavor but in the latter a nice bitter citrus zest hop feel opens up. Certainly a great "flagship" or staple of a brewery. I have had this a few times now and it seems to just get better and better.

A: Murky and glowing – like polished copper and sunshine

N: Tangerines and garden cucumbers

T: Julius is well balanced and drinkable - it smacks of juicy peaches and overripe honeydew melons

M: Medium carbonation (served from a growler) and awfully dry

O: Made for Central Park picnics and afternoons by the lake

750ml THB swing-top bottle filled at the brewery.

First THB glass pours with a 1/2" beige head, over the totally cloudy orangey amber brew. Head is promptly down to an uneven skim, with slow-falling coating lace. Aroma is pungent oranges and tangerines. Wow.

Taste starts fruity sweet, tangerines in the middle, and then a orange zest bitter in the close. Mouthfeel is soft and smooth, and drinkability is excellent. Nice one.

750mL swing top growler purchased from the brewery a few hours ago. Pours a murky brownish amber with a 1/4 inch of head. Lots of lacing. The aroma is a big whiff of tropical fruits. Pineapple, peach, mango and citrus hops. Smells fantastic. The taste is a lot like the aroma. Big pineapple and peach flavor. Bitter mango with hints of floral hops. I'm surprised this one is only 6.8% because it seems to have a bigger alcohol presence. However it works perfectly with the tropical fruits and is still insanely drinkable. Bitter orange peel at the finish. Heavy, oily mouthfeel. Fruity, bitter and hoppy. Great IPA. Overall, hype warranted.

Growler shared by biggsbowler. Clear light yellow pour with a white head. Grapefruit hop aromas. Big grapefruit hop notes dominate. Sturdy malt backbone. Very good mouthfeel with a good body.
