Picked up last Saturday at the brewery.

Pours a thick creamy darker colored mocha 1 finger head that fades slowly with thick lacing, pitch black beer.

Nose has plenty of roast, coffee, light acrid burnt roast, some dark choc and cocoa, oats, caramel, etc. The roast and coffee come through more and more as it warms. A touch of warming booze tickles the nose.

Taste starts with lots more roast, some burnt acrid char over roasted, then dark choc, bakers and cocoa like but not dominant. Plenty of coffee, some fresh roasted coffee beans and light burnt coffee. Some caramel and touch dark vanilla like, and some chewy creamy oats. Some earthy chewy spicy hops in there, bring plenty of bitterness along side the bitterness from the charred roasted malts. It gets quite bitter on the finish as the hops really come through as well as the roasted burnt malts, more lingering coffee chocolate and dark malts, etc.

Mouth is thick and fuller bodied, good carb for growler, just a bit of warming booze.

Overall pretty good. A bit too much of acrid burnt roast, but otherwise nice malts oats, choc, coffee, etc, but a slower sipper.

Clocking in at 55 IBU's this is a Tree House's breakfast stout brewed with Sumatran Coffee, Bitter Chocolate, and imported Cacao Nibs. Poured into my Duvel tulip.

A - Poured a deep, dark brown nearly black with a very, very nice two finger dark mocha head that fades at the typical rate leave a nice dense, creamy blanket with solid lacing. Good look for the percent.

S - I've had the fortune (I guess for this brewery it would be misfortune) of having two VERY, VERY good Sumantra coffee based imperial stouts over the past month (Vietnamese Speedway Stout and Big Bad Baptist). If I had not had them, this would be stellar. Big, delicious "exotic" coffee grounds , dark almost sweet roasts. There is some nice chocolate notes going, a good contrast of bitter and sweet and dark. Some very, very faint alcohol on the nose but this is mostly delicious, inviting coffee.

T - Taste jumps right in where the nose left off. Strong, delicious Sumatran coffee. Great bitter grounds balanced almost perfectly with the sweet yet bitter chocolate. Forms an almost decadent mocha. This is an excellent balance between roasted and chocolate malts, coffee, and actual chocolate. Nicely done sirs.

M - Mouthfeel is good, lower carbonation which is solid for the style. Possibly just a hair on the thin side, with alcohol lightly noticeable too. Again, tough competition.

O - Overall this was a damn good executed stout. If I had not had the two mentioned fresh in the mind, the marks would definitely be higher. That being said, the aroma and flavours are damn, damn good. Well done fellas, well done indeed.
