Draught @ Michael’s Harborside: This one pours a clear, golden color. There was a thin white head that left some lacing. It has a fairly typical IPA nose: pine and grapefruit hops. They weren’t overpowering. Not much else coming thru. The taste is good. Sharp, but not overly bitter. Grapefruit hop taste is predominant. Could be a touch smoother, but not bad at all.

Tap at Amesbury Alehouse

Light creamy head fades at med pace nice lacing hazy coppery amber color.

Nose nice hops warrior and centennial like with spicy earthy hops, light malty sweetness caramel, a bit of floral spicy hops with a little pine.

Taste east coast style but nice, lots of earthy hops, little grassy and spicy, bit of pine and citrus. The hops are fairly bitter with a big earthy quality and distinct warrior hop taste. Light malty caramel sweetness to balance. Finish is fairly dry nice spicy earthy hop lingering for a while.

Mouth is med bod, decent carb.

Overall quite nice, good east coast style i havent had in a while, nice hops malty sweet balance long bitter finish. Tasty, drinkable, and a good change to have a well done IPA like this in the time of citrus and tropical fruit bombs.

I recently discovered the Riverwalk Brewery in Newburyport, MA, and I was pleasantly surprised with their beer offerings. Their Riverwalk IPA is certainly their best beer for hard-core beer-lovers, but its style if very different from that of the New England's leading IPA producers such as The Alchemist or Maine Beer Company.

The Riverwalk IPA pours as an amber-brown with a thin, foamy head. It is lighter than most IPAs and only features a 6.75% ABV. It is crafted very much in the east-coast IPA style without too much citrus flavor. The beer features some citrus quality at the front, but with a much much dryer finish than many popular IPAs, making this a unique departure from the norm in New England. However, I have enjoyed this deviation from the trend very much as this is a well-crafted, well-balanced beer.

I strongly recommend this IPA as a less expensive, quality alternative to many of the trendy and difficult-to-obtain IPAs and DIPAs on the market today, and I for one have enjoyed this beer immensely.

From a half-growler. Pours bright orange and probably filtered. Head is a soft spoonful of white, bubbly froth. Aroma is heavy on musty citrus hops. Citrus rind and grapefruit flesh. Once I see the hop varietals in here it begins to make much more sense. There is also some light caramel and more breadiness along with a neutral sweetness. The flavor is quite bitter, as expected. It's also juicier than the nose would suggest. Fruity citrus juice, sharp pine and grass and a floral hop element. Finishes with bitter grapefruit flavors. Hops almost taste woody as the beer warms. Medium bodied, softer carbonation. Very bitter. More of a West Coast IPA than what many New England breweries have been doing with their IPAs. I found it to be well made and sneakily aggressive.
