Dark brown to black with small head but decent retention. Slight nose -- a bit of coffee nut not much else. Medium body - some coffee, vanilla, and a touch of bitterness. Smooth, pleasant mouth feel. A very solid porter -- not overwhelming in flavor, but not watery or lacking, A nice effort form Riverwalk.

It pours an inky black with a smallish head, it has some coffee aromas and some sweetish aromas in the nose but overall it is slight and doesn't provide too much of an indication of what is to come. This porter is not full bodied, more medium bodied with a little too much wateriness for my liking. The taste has some vanilla notes, some dark maltiness, some sweetness, just a touch of burnt chocolate type malts. The label claims there are cinnamon hints but I'm not picking that up. This is a decent porter but it doesn't have the winter spices that would tilt it in that direction and it isn't dry enough or full bodied enough to make it an exceptional porter. This is a bit of a tweener that is okay, not great, with more vanilla flavors coming through as the beer settles. The aftertaste is slight, no real perceptible hop character, a little too sweet for me with none of the counterbalancing burnt maltiness to offset it. it's a decent beer but nothing to rave about. One other point worth mentioning, the ABV on the bottle is not quite 7.0 as listed on this site so perhaps things have changed with this year's batch.

This porter had an astringency to it from either chocolate malt overload or possibly from the hops. As it warmed, that mitigated and revealed some nice chocolate and coffee notes. Nice mouthfeel and nose.

Full body and not waterey like so many porters that load up on front end coffee and dark chocolate notes only to leave you with a waterey aftertaste. I've only had the summer ale, IPA and this winter Porter from Riverwalk but all 3 are excellent.

A bit light on the tongue. Nice roasted malt flavor with chocolate notes.

Poured into a small solo cup from a small growler.
A - can't see body but it's dark brown with a dark tan head. Good lacing and retention.
N - smells of dark roasted malts and winters spices.
T - very tasty roasted flavors.
M - a little lighter in body than I would have predicted.
O - a tasty festive holiday porter. Cheers!
