Probably my favorite of the day at the Caronlina Brewery pours a medium brown with some amber highlights thru out with a light head that leaves a small amount of lace.Aroma is slight I get a dry cookie hint but not much.Nice malt tilted brew a nice toasted flavor and slightly doughy.A good interpertation of the style not to sweet like some.

Growler from the brewery.
Dark reddish amber, thin oil patch lace. Dried fruit, bready sweet malts and some nutty aromas. Sweet dried date fruit flavors upfront, some bready malts mid palate, lingering toffe flavors in the finish. Very little hops present. Body is a bit thin with light carbonation. Drinks easy, in fact if not for boarderline cloying fruity sweetness this could be a very sessionable brew. Two pints however, will be enough. Not a bad Alt, but I've had better.

Currently on-tap at Tyler's Taproom in Durham. Pours a dark chestnut brown, with a no apparent head but some white foam floating lightly on top and around the edge of the glass. Aromas reminiscent of many lighter-bodied brown ales, with a sweet, fruity, nutty malty character dominating. Flavors of sweet malts and a bit of fruit are certainly present, with a light hoppiness and a lingering sweet finish. It's an interesting take on the style, and quite "drinkable."

Enjoyed on-tap at the brewpub. Poured a gold-tinged yellow in color. Just a touch of cloudiness to it. White foamy head that vanished pretty quick. Nose was malty with a tinge of fruit sweetness.
Flavor was a bit off for the style. More of a juice like quality than a beer. Picked out apple flavors around sweet malts. Light hop bitterness balanced out the sweetness. Mouthfeel was juicy and full. Nice offering and I would get it again.

Appearance: Pours a medium dark amber body with a small head and little lacing
Smell: Picked up a bit of caramel malt and bitter hops; an unusual medicinal smell, too
Taste: Very fruity with a lot of "orange peel" flavor; not as sweet as I was expecting as the flavor was really dominated by the bitter fruit
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation
Drinkability: A flavorful alt, but I would have prefered it to have been a little more balanced with some sweet malt characteristics
